We discover what makes Château de Berne a passionate encounter between wine and Provencal lifestyle…

Château de Berne lies in the heart of Provence and is a destination for today’s wine tourism travellers, combining tradition, elegance and modernity. Acclaimed for its five-star Relais & Chateaux Hotel & Spa and gorgeous panoramic vistas over vines, olive groves and landscapes stretching as far as the eye can see, Chateau de Berne is a majestic Provencal mansion house and offers 27 rooms and suites.

The new, 800m2 Spa blends harmoniously into the surrounding vines and veteran olive trees, and offers blissful relaxation in a simple and elegant décor, while the Cinq Mondes beauty treatments and indoor pool whisk you away on a wave of well-being.

The new chef Benjamin Collombat has taken over the helm of the Château’s 2 restaurants, Le Jardin de Benjamin and Le Bistrot and is committed to making Château de Berne one of Provence’s finest culinary addresses.

The Château gardens have also been redesigned on the Mediterranean theme and are now home to a vast kitchen garden and animal farm.

Vines have been grown on the Château’s grounds since Roman times. Situated on the Aurelian Way—a Roman road formerly linking Italy and Spain—the estate’s vines have benefited from this continental microclimate since 1750. All year round, the vine growers fertilise the soil with organic matter and supervise the planting and growth of the vines with meticulous care, ensuring that the grapes ripen harmoniously.

Château de Berne spans 1,235 acres of beautiful countryside in the heart of Provence. Niched between garrigue and olive groves, its 297 acres of vines produce 750,000 bottles of acclaimed wines from Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Carignan, Viognier, Merlot, Sémillon, Ugni-Blanc and Rolle grapes. In parallel to the wine growing expertise and experience acquired by the Château over the centuries, each generation has brought its own creative talent, coupled with the modern equipment and facilities needed for Berne’s wine specialists to produce good yields of exceptional wines.

Respecting nature and using environmentally-friendly growing techniques at every stage of the wine growing process is at the forefront of the Château’s commitment.

Château de Berne shares its passion for wine growing with the 60,000 or so visitors it welcomes every year. Visitors can enjoy lingering at the Château Wine Shop (La Cave), selling an extensive choice of vintage wines including some exclusive blends, plus delicatessen products, regional specialities and produce grown at the vineyard.
