After conducting extensive research on optimal production locations, distillation techniques and creating sustainable spirits, Bhagath Reddy finally laid roots in an old perfumery in Grasse and created the flagship tipple, 44°N Gin.
This unique Gin embodies the Mediterranean with its subtle and flavoursome notes of native botanicals whilst also paying homage to ancient distillation processes. These traditional techniques keep the production sustainable and in keeping with the long-established distillation methods used in Grasse.
Since its launch, the Gin has received many accolades for not only its complex flavour profile, but also for its striking and distinctive design. Awarded a Gold Medal by the Drinks Business for Design and Packaging, winner of ‘Design & Branding’ and Gin Bottle of the Year 2020 by the Gin Guide, 44°N Gin is undoubtedly a picture-perfect bottle that never fails to be noticed.
Taking inspiration from the azure waters surrounding Provence, the esteemed Gin is bottled in Klein Blue glass, whose unmistakable colour sets it apart from any of its contemporaries. First mixed by French artist Yves Klein, Klein Blue has a heavy reliance on ultramarine, creating a luxurious and deep blue hue and a mesmerising visual impact.
Interestingly, the vivid colour of the glass is achieved by actually injecting the glass with pigment rather than just placing a coloured film over it. This sophisticated process reinforces the blue quality and, along with the 3D effect of the hand moulding, creates a dazzling reflection that can be likened to the bottom of the sea on a sunny summer’s day.
Every inch of this stunning bottle elegantly represents the French Riviera, including the yellow cap and subtle stripes to represent the shining sun and its rays. In fact, even the presentation box has been crafted to stimulate the senses with its textured and tactile finish and shimmering yellow accents. The veneer requires 7 coats before achieving the desired effect, which shows the painstaking detail and precision that goes into every Comte de Grasse product.
Not one element of the design has been overlooked, and the great care in which it has been executed is akin to a prized perfume bottle, which is fitting given that it was conceived in Grasse, the world capital of perfumery. A stunning labour of love that aptly pays homage to the Provençal heritage of Gin, 44°N Gin never goes unnoticed, whether behind the bar or on a shelf.
