Stand back and enjoy this magnificent display of The Sound of Taste, syncing MJ Cole’s track with explosions of herbs and spices…

Have you ever wondered what flavour looks like? Sounds like? Schwartz, clients of creative agency Grey London, have created this ‘Sonic Favourscape’ to show off their new range of herb and spice blends.

Several tons of black peppercorns, cardamom, turmeric, paprika, cumin seeds, ginger, chilliand coriander were rigged to explode in perfect sync with a bespoke musical composition. Each explosion represents an individual piano note or chord, which when filmed at highspeed, creates a surreal three dimensional sound scape.

The project bought together an eclectic collective of creative collaborators. DJ/ProducerMJ Cole was approached to translate the sensation of taste into a musical composition.Film maker Chris Cairns and pyrotechnic designers, ‘Machine Shop’, then went to workturning this sound into a physical scale.
