Roganic Hong Hong Hosts New Food and Beverage Series

The Michelin-starred restaurant’s new ‘Craft & Spirit’ offering will see a stellar line-up of award-winning guest bartenders showcase their top-class tipples throughout October and November, including John Nugent of The Diplomat, Arkadiusz Rybak of DarkSide, Jay Khan of COA, and Agung Prabowo of The Old Man.

Roganic Hong Kong by Simon Rogan is proud to host Craft & Spirit, a new food and beverage series that pairs creative libations by award-winning mixologists with modern Briti sh fare by Executive Chef Oli Marlow and Head Chef Ash Salmon. A campaign that showcases the marriage of seasonal Michelin-starred cuisine (“craft”) and exquisite cocktails (“spirit”), Craft & Spirit offers a delectable journey into the world of the city’s leading culinary artisans, and true masters of their crafts.

Craft & Spirit guest bartender series will kick off on 8th October with John Nugent, co-founder and head mixologist of famed local speakeasy bar, The Diplomat. On 22nd October, the saga continues with Arkadiusz Rybak, Director of Bars at Rosewood Hong Kong, and best known for his award-winning cocktail list at DarkSide. Up next on 5th November is Jay Khan of Oaxaca-inspired cocktail bar COA, awarded the no.3 rank on this year’s list of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2020. Concluding the takeover series on 18th November is Agung Prabowo of the legendary The Old Man, which was crowned the best bar in Asia (no.1) in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2019, and presently ranks second in the list of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2020.

Each guest bartender will take over the Roganic bar for one night only, showcasing one non-alcoholic and two alcoholic cocktails that are available to order a la carte. Each cocktail will be priced at HK$120+10% and designed to perfectly complement the seasonal dishes and menu at Roganic. Guests dining in at Roganic during Craft & Spirit nights will only enjoy the restaurant’s signature Long Tasting Menu (priced at HK$1,100 + 10% including 1 signature cocktail from the Guest Bartender). Exclusive snacks will also be served on the nights, only at the Roganic Bar area, including Pig & Eel Croquettes (HK$60 for 2 pcs) and Truffle Pudding glazed in birch sap with Berkswell cheddar (HK$60 for 2 pcs).

8th October (Thursday) – John Nugent, The Diplomat

The first speakeasy concept by award-winning mixologist John Nugent, The Diplomat offers a cocktail experience befitting of the convivial personality of Hong Kong. The beverage menu features small batched produced wine, vintage liquors, and reimagined classic cocktails shaped by the legacy of influential state leaders, ambassadors, and historical figures. The brasserie menu of refined snacks and hot dishes infuse ingredients distinctive to various cities and their cuisines to recreate familiar and nostalgic flavors. Whether for the expertly crafted cocktails, opened armed hospitality or whimsical ambiance, The Diplomat is a place where weary travelers can call home.

22nd October (Thursday) – Arkadiusz Rybak, DarkSide

DarkSide is a sophisticated, timeless celebration of rare aged spirits and confident classic cocktails complemented by sultry live jazz. The dark spirits selection spans back to the early 19th century and includes exclusive casks of single-harvest tawny port from 1969 and Grande Champagne cognac aged in oak, as well as an extensive library of choice rum, whisky, and calvados. The concise cocktail list pays homage to Kowloon’s “Dark Side” moniker and focuses on time-honored traditions updated with innovative techniques.

5th November (Thursday) – Jay Khan, COA

COA was opened in 2017 by Jay Khan as part of his mission to bring agave spirits to the forefront of Asia’s cocktail scene. Named after the machete like tool for harvesting agave, COA (co-ah) is inspired by the drinking dens Jay frequented on his trips to Mexico. COA focuses on great hospitality, set in a cozy and friendly environment welcoming all walks of life, and provides a diverse beverage offers, featuring 100% agave tequila, traditional mezcal and cocktails inspired by the flavors of Mexico.

18th November (Wednesday) – Agung Prabowo, The Old Man

Inspired by the 1952 Ernest Hemingway novel about a Cuban fisherman and the biggest catch of his life, The Old Man is the first Hemingway-themed bar in Hong Kong with a distinctly Asian touch. Located on Aberdeen Street with an award-winning bar team, fans and drinking connoisseurs alike can gather and sip on inventive libations in memory of the brilliant writer and cocktail enthusiast.
