New York City will celebrating its local Nordic culinary talent at its very first Nordic gastronomy festival, NORTH, in October this year.
Chef Esben Holmboe Bang will be collaborating with Brooklyn-based chef Fredrik Berselius at Fredrik’s restaurant Aska.
NORTH will take place from Wednesday October 2 to Monday, October 7 celebrating the very best of in Nordic cuisine that New York City has to offer.
New Yorkers and those stopping in for the event will have the chance to see local Nordic chefs like Marcus Jernmark (Aquavit), Mads Refslund (Acme), Fredrik Berselius (Aska), Daniel Burns (Luksus) and Carl Kristian Frederiksen (Aamanns Copenhagen) cook and talk about their Nordic heritage. But they will also have the opportunity to taste and learn from some of the most amazing chefs flown in from the Nordic region, including Matt Orlando (Sasu Laukkonen (Chef et Sommelier), Gunnar Karl Gislason (DILL), Gustav Tradgardh (Restaurant Sjomagasinet), Frode Selvaag, and more international chefs are being added in the upcoming weeks.
FOUR magazine’s very own Esben Holmboe Bang – whose restaurant Maaemo received 2 Michelin stars in its first ever mention in the coveted guide – will be collaborating with Brooklyn-based chef Fredrik Berselius at restaurant Aska – the new Nodic inspired Williamsburg hotspot. Guests can taste chef Esben and Fredrik’s collaborative dishes on Thursday 3 October and Friday 4 October.
Excited about the prospect of cooking with man-of-the-moment chef Fredrik, Esben commented saying, ‘ I am super excited to come to Williamsburg to cook with Fredrik. I had a great dinner there earlier this year and I think his cooking is one of the most exciting around. I am really looking forward to it.’
Esben and Fredrik will be treating diners to a multi-course tasting menu, focusing on both chef’s passion for seasonal produce and their affinity with raw Norwegian nature and climate.
