The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi has raised the bar—literally and figuratively—with the launch of an exclusive new cocktail menu curated by world-renowned mixologist Nico de Soto. Known for his Parisian speakeasy, Danico (ranked #49 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024) and New York’s Mace (#71 on The World’s 500 Best Bars 2023), de Soto brings his globe-trotting creativity to Malaysia’s jewel of the Andaman Sea in a limited-edition collaboration running throughout 2025.
Available exclusively at Horizon, the resort’s celebrated open-air bar and lounge perched above the Andaman Sea, the new menu takes inspiration from Langkawi’s rich cultural heritage, indigenous ingredients and mystical legends. De Soto has designed four innovative cocktails that reflect both the spirit of the island and his signature flair for storytelling through flavour.
Island-Inspired Sips by a Global Star
Each cocktail showcases native ingredients—many sourced directly from The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi’s own Nibong Garden—and pays homage to Langkawi’s folklore and natural beauty.
Pandan Celebrations
This fragrant creation stars pandan freshly harvested on-site, blended with Planteray 3 Stars Rum, salted pandan syrup, fresh lime and an eye-catching pandan agar agar garnish. Aromatic, refreshing and vibrant, it’s a toast to one of Malaysia’s most iconic ingredients.
Mat Raya Fizz
Inspired by Gunung Raya, Langkawi’s tallest mountain and the mythic giant it’s named after, this fizz blends kaffir lime-infused Citadelle Jardin d’Été gin with local palm sugar (Nisan Kerek), lemongrass, Thai basil, citrus and egg white. Topped with soda and garnished with medicinal Pegaga leaves, it’s as invigorating as the view from the bar itself.
Mat Cincang Airmail
A nod to the legendary Gunung Mat Cincang, this cocktail reinvents the classic Airmail with brown butter-washed Planteray Barbados Rum, Tualang honey (harvested from stingless bees native to Langkawi), lemon and Champagne. A rich yet uplifting blend to sip while watching the sun set over the sea.
Gedembai Negroni
Drawing from Langkawi’s tale of Gedembai—a mythical creature with the power to transform with words—this twist on the Negroni combines Citadelle Gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, local jackfruit, house-roasted coffee beans and a hint of Thai chilli. Bold and complex, it redefines the island cocktail experience.
Horizon Bar: A Hub of Natural Sophistication
The setting is just as spellbinding as the drinks. The Horizon Bar & Lounge is a floating haven overlooking the tranquil waters of the Andaman, offering panoramic rainforest views and a breezy, barefoot luxury atmosphere.
