There was much anticipation and excitement looming in the air as the date grew closer for Great Britain and Ireland’s Michelin Guide 2022 revelation. As the hospitality industry finally starts to see some respite after a challenging two years, there was plenty of revelry, tears of joy and happy jigs as the chefs and restaurants featured in this year’s guide received their awards.
It was a particularly special moment for Simon Rogan, who this year celebrates his 20th anniversary of the Simon Rogan Group, when he received news of his newly awarded third star for his restaurant L’Enclume located in the Lake District. As the only new addition to the 3-star ranking, he joins 7 other restaurants in the region as the most highly revered dining venues according to the esteemed guide. The other re-awarded 3-star restaurants are:

- CORE by Clare Smyth, London
- Fat Duck, Bray
- Hélène Darroze at The Connaught, London
- Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, London
- Sketch (The Lecture Room & Library), London

This year also saw 22 restaurants be awarded 2 stars, of which 5 are new awards. The new 2-star recipients include Ikoyi, founded by friends Iré Hassan-Odukale and chef Jeremy Chan that spotlights micro-seasonal British ingredients blended with sub-Saharan West African spices, along with Chapter One by Mickael Viljanen, The Clove Club, Liath and Ynyshir. The restaurants that retained their 2 stars are:

A staggering 164 restaurants were awarded one star this year, which speaks to the quality of the cuisine available in Great Britain and Ireland. Of these 164 restaurants, 19 restaurants are new awards, and include:
