Massimo Bottura Awarded White Guide Global Gastronomy Award 2014

For the eighth year running, White Guide Global Gastronomy Award celebrates a creative chef of international prominence who is an inspiration and example of contemporary gastronomy. Who else could it be other than chef Bottura?

Chef Bottura of Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy is a three Michelin-starred mastermind and ambassador of creative, modern cuisine. Combining traditional with conceptual, art with dishes’ aesthetics and complex flavours, textures with cultural references to art, literature and history, the White Guide Global Gastronomy Award 2014 has quite rightly honoured this culinary laureate.

Judged and awarded “for continuously reinventing one of the world’s most beloved cuisines – the Italian – and elevating it to new amplitudes for senses and minds to explore and enjoy“, the Swedish White Guide is an esteemed gourmet restaurant guide, created in 2007. Previous winners include Ferran Adrià, René Redzepi and Gastòn Acurio.

In addition to this accolade, chef Bottura has been named the sixth member of the Italian ‘transavanguardia’ art movement by founding art critic Achile Bonito Oliva. Having blurred the boundaries between art, modernist thinking and gastronomy, Massimo joins Italian painters Chia, Clemente and Palladine. Creativity at its finest…
