Mandarin Oriental, Milan has unveiled a luxurious accommodation package for guests looking to experience the fantastical world of Fornasetti and enjoy Milanese fine-dining delights.

The Mandarin Oriental, Milan Dine & Design by Fornasetti experience will see guests stay in the sumptuous Fornasetti suite adorned with their distinctively whimsical artwork, receive a hand-decorated porcelain plate from the Atelier, enjoy a private tour of Fornasetti’s flagship store and indulge in a three-course dinner at the hotel’s two Michelin-starred Seta restaurant.

The one-of-a-kind Fornasetti Suite pays homage to the iconic Milanese design house. High ceilings are met with emerald-hued walls and signature Fornassetti motifs while an abundance of natural light seeps in, radiating against the Atelier’s emblematic, custom-made furnishings.

Continuing on the Fornasetti trend, guests will be taken on an enchanting private tour of Fornasetti’s flagship store in central Milan as part of this offer, where the elegant extravagance of its decorative treasures are a feast for the senses. Showcasing room furnishings, accessories and porcelain pieces, the store includes a selection of the Atelier’s vintage works presented in a special “cabinet of wonders”, where the collectors and the curious alike can lose themselves in beauty and memory.

As memorabilia, package guests will be gifted a hand-made porcelain plate featuring a historical depiction of Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping arcade. Part of the Cupole d’Italia (Domes of Italy) series, the original design was created by Piero Fornasetti, in 1979, in tribute to Milan and has been re-edited by the Atelier to celebrate the partnership with Mandarin Oriental, Milan.

The dining part of this special experience also includes a three-course dinner for two people, served either in the privacy of their suite or in the graceful ambiance at two Michelin-starred Seta Restaurant, led by Executive Chef Antonio Guida. Parties of six or more are invited to dine in the new Duomo Private Dining Room, an idyllic setting for an intimate dinner.

The Duomo Private Dining Room is also a collaborative effort between Mandarin Oriental, Milan and Fornasetti. The unique marine-themed room features bespoke furniture and decorative pieces sourced from Atelier Fornasetti’s impressive collection.

The dining room is named after the Duomo Sommerso wall panel art, which is based on an illustration that Fornasetti’s founder, Piero Fornasetti, created in 1951. Portraying Milan’s cathedral underwater encircled by a myriad of fish, the artwork blurs the boundaries between reality and illusion, creating a surreal, dreamlike world.

Vintage decorative plates from Piero’s Cupole d’Italia series of church cupola reproductions hang on either side of the Duomo Sommerso panel, while the ceiling is embellished in a delicate motif mimicking the clouds, enhancing the room’s dreamlike and soothing atmosphere. The Nuvolette wallpaper by Cole & Son, designed by Fornasetti’s creative director Barnaba Fornasetti, pays homage to his father Piero’s passion for engraving.

Two corner cupboards are decorated with Piero’s depictions of early twentieth century soprano Lina Cavalieri, who was considered the ‘most beautiful woman in the world’ by her fans. Decorative lines on the portraits create an imaginary atlas illustrated with fish, algae and other sea life, adding another marine element to the room’s design.

Chef Antonio Guida has even created a special dish inspired by the dining room’s stylish Fornasetti-designed interiors. Re-imagining the flavour of the dining room’s marine-themed design for the palate, the dish is a suitably sophisticated Risotto with oyster, caviar and wood sorrel.

The Dine & Design by Fornasetti experience is priced from EUR 7,300 per night, and includes:
