The World’s 50 Best Restaurants

The annual celebration that recognises culinary talent from around the globe will take place in New York City for next years, 2016 ceremony. The announcement from the organization comes ahead of tonight’s 2015 awards, which will perhaps be the last time for a while that it will be held in the UK capital.

Ever since 2002, when the list was first created, London has played host to the 14 ceremonies that have been successfully executed by William Reed Media, owners of the organization. With visitors travelling from across the globe to celebrate the finest chefs, restaurants and establishments from Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Australia and the Middle East, it became clear that a global relocation strategy would help promote the event to an even larger audience.

William Drew, Group Editor of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, said:

“The World’s 50 Best Restaurants is a truly global brand. We want to reflect this not just in the restaurants we celebrate but also in the locations of the events themselves. Through the global movement of our events we will continue to unite, discover and celebrate the diverse gastronomic talents and communities across the globe. We are extremely excited to be heading to New York, undoubtedly one of the planet’s most exhilarating dining destinations, to host the 2016 edition of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards.”

With a new relocation programme in mind for the event, the World’s 50 best could see itself taking place in any number of locations across the globe from Asia, to the Middle East every two to three years.

With tonight’s event keeping us on the edge of our seat with who will be crowned the World’s No.1 best restaurant, we shall look forward to what next years NYC ceremony will have to offer.
