This year the luxurious Castell Son Claret will play host to Mallorca’s Michelin star chef gala, The Grand Gourmet Awards.Taking place on the 14th June, the gastronomic event will be set against the backdrop of the 18th Century historical castle, within a 325-acre private estate at the bottom of the UNESCO Tramuntana mountain range.
Castell Son Claret is situated in Calvia and is home to the Michelin-starred restaurant Zaranda, headed by chef .Arellano will not only being playing host, but will also be taking part in the event whilst also welcoming 8 of the finest talent from the Island including; Bartomeu Caldenteyof Restaurant Es Molí d’en Bou,Macarena de Castroof Restaurant Jardín,MarcFoshof Restaurant Simply Fosh,Andreu Genestraof Restaurant Andreu Genestra,Rafael Sánchezof Restaurant Es Fum,and Santi Tauraof Restaurant Santi Taura.
This highly anticipated line up will also feature two-Michelin starchef Thomas Martinfrom Jacobs Restaurant, Hamburg. The special guest chef will participate alongside the talented group, where they will each be preparing one of their signature dishes, using regional and seasonal products of the island.
The evening will pay homage to the Islands fresh local produce and the inspired cuisine by offering champagne and delicacies from around the region, live music, and the gala menu pairing with some of their finest choice wines. The evening will be topped off with an award being given to Mallorca’s best chef 2015, so if you can’t make it in person, make sure you stay up to date with who will be crowned the next top chef.
