Opinionated About Dining is to hold it’s first UK event this Autumn at The Clove Club in Shoreditch. This collaborative dinner organised by OAD’sSteve Plotnickiand The Clove Club’sIsaac McHalewill see Chef McHale cook with some of France’s most exciting rising stars, all of whom hail from Japan but now call Paris home.Atsushi Tanakaof A.T,Hideki Nishi ofNeige d’Ete andRyuji Teshimaof Pages are part of a new generation of Japanese chefs who have mastered modern French cooking and are now spicing up the Paris dining scene without a dash of soy sauce in sight.
“While chefs like Ducasse and Alleno dominate the Parisian food scene,hard core foodies know that some of thebest cooking in the city ishappening coming from the new wave of Japanese chefs who have made the city their home.Atsushi, Hideki andRyuji are three of my favorites, and it made sense tointroduce them to the British dining scene by pairing them with the London-based chef whose no-nonsense cookingstyle and dedication to excellence most resembleswhat you will find at their own restaurants.”Steve Plotnicki.
The three visiting chefs will cook alongside Head Chef Isaac McHale in The Clove Club’s kitchen, with each preparing two dishes as part of an 8 course tasting menu. Places are limited to 50 places and priced at £150 per head.
“I have been a big fan of Japanese food and cooking technique for 22 years now, since I was a 14 year old reading ‘Japanese Cooking: A Simple Art.’ So I jumped at the chance to welcome the guys into the kitchen of The Clove Club, and to get a sense of how they cook French food with a Japaneses sensibility.
