With a century old nickname that includes la Grassa (the fat), Bologna is known for its creative and sumptuous food. With regional classics products of Prosciutto di Parma, Parmigiano Reggiano, Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale, Mortadella, Culatello di Zibello, known the world over, this really is a gastronomic hub.
This November will pay homage to this area; rich in character and cultural expression, by showcasing these highly prized food products in the Enologica food festival. For three days, from 21 to 23 November, Bologna will live up to its famed role as the capital of a Region whose gastronomy rivals many the world over, transforming its public spaces into culinary venues exploring the world of fine food and great wine…or both!
The unique event sponsored for the second year in a row by the Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna, sees the Salone del Podestà in the Palazzo Re Enzo transform into a world-class tasting hall, hosting over 100 wine producers, whose vineyards cover the nine provinces of Emilia-Romagna, from Piacenza to Rimini. The spotlight is focused on the uncompromising quality of the Region’s wines, made by both limited-production wine-growers as well as large cooperatives.
With a specially designed space dedicated to the appreciation of food products treasured by every true gourmet, the ‘Genius Loci’ will display all the latest exploits of Romagna Sangiovese, and the city’s surrounding areas.
The Enologica festival not only enlivens the palates of all those in Bologna, but also offers the chance for people to interact with chefs and restaurants, renowned for their contribution to fine dining. With a ‘Teatro dei Cuochi’ the chefs will take turns to perform in their own culinary theatre, where they will explain with live demonstrations, the art of fine dining.
Taking part in the gastronomic extravangaza are renowned chefs from the region, including; Dai Xiaogang and Chen Xujuan of Ristorante Bambù, GianlucaGorini of Le Giare, Montiano, Elisabetta, Valeria e la nonna Angiolinaof Pasta Fresca Naldi, Elsa Fregnaniof Antichi Sapori, Association La San Nicola, Castelfranco Emilia of Eros Palmirani, Diana, Ido and Adalberto Migliariof Trattoria La Chiocciola,Portomaggiore Carla Aradelli of Ristorante Riva, Ponte dell’Olio, Riccardo Agostini of Il Piastrino, Pennabilli, Massimo Spigaroli ofAntica Corte Pallavicina, Polesine Parmense, Marta Scalabriniof Marta in cucina, Matteo Aloe, Fabio Fiore and Pierluigi Di Diego (six hands dinner) of restaurants Berberé, QuantoBasta and Don Giovanni/La Borsa Bistrot.
