Accomplished UK Chef Simon Rogan will join the Royal Mail Hotel’s executive chef Robin Wickens for a special one-off collaboration as part of this year’s Melbourne Food & Wine Festival.

The dinner, which will take place at the historic Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld on Saturday 14 March, will see the two chefs combine their technical know-how to create an eight course degustation that truly embraces locality and takes inspiration from the surrounding Grampians landscape. The menu will feature John Dory with pine oil and pine jus, local Duck, Venison with red mustard shoots and beetroot powder and Yellow Peach with dried meadowsweet and other dishes. Tickets to the dinner cost $295 with all courses matched with local wines from Best’s Great Western who will showcase their award winning Great Western Shiraz and select wines from their historic cellars established in the 1860’s.

is recognised as one of the UK’s most accomplished and well respected chefs. His flagship restaurant, L’Enclume, currently holds two Michelin stars and was voted the Best Restaurant in the UK by the Waitrose Good Food Guide 2014. Since opening his first restaurant in 2002, Rogan has gone on to open several other highly successful ventures throughout the UK, including Fera at in May 2014.

Rogan has a strong commitment to fresh, local and seasonal produce. He has his own large farm near Cartmel, Cumbria, where he grows herbs, flowers, fruit and vegetables throughout the year to supply his restaurants. The dinner will offer locally sourced and property grown produce paired with luxury dining, in a culinary tribute to the edible wonders of the Australian landscape.

“Rogan’s farm-to-table ethos closely aligns with our philosophy here at the Royal Mail Hotel and diners can expect a menu that features the freshest local bounty, from veggies picked straight from our organic kitchen garden, to an abundance of in-season produce such as and Great Ocean Road Duck gathered from farms and friends nearby,” said Robin Wickens, Executive Chef at the Royal Mail Hotel.
