Relais & Châteaux have launched their new guides for 2018, listing over 550 hotel and restaurant members of the prestigious association.

Established around the world, the spirit of Relais & Châteaux lies in the principle of preserving local culture and diversity and sharing culinary expertise. This year, Relais & Châteaux’s guide is themed around the sun, reflected in its bright shade of Amalfi yellow. The guide offers three new sun-filled Routes de Bonheur, Relais & Chateaux’s expertly selected itineraries for discovering the world, as well as showcasing the latest additions to the association and a full list of hotels and restaurants that are part of Relais & Châteaux.

The new additions range from luxurious country hotel Lympstone Manor in Devon and romantic ecological resort Nayara Springs in the heart of Costa Rica’s rainforests, to the secluded Château de Valmer offering breath-taking view of the Gulf of Saint Tropez and the idyllic getaway Avaton Luxury Villas Resort on the coast of the Aegean Sea.

Relais & Châteaux 2018 Routes de Bonheur

Napa Valley | Ten Delicious Lessons

Napa Valley is the ultimate destination for a mouth-watering journey dotted with stunning landscapes and vineyards. Written by food critic and reporter François Simon, with accompanied images by accomplished French photographer Yann Stofer, who shoots for Vice, this Relais & Châteaux Route de Bonheur offers a sense of true relaxation and the ability to explore the finest vineyards and culinary offerings of Napa Valley. Highlights of this Route de Bonheur include exploring the bustling San Francisco and unwinding in Yountville, the heart of Napa Valley.

Spain | Echoes of the Senses

A trip from Barcelona to Madrid into the depths of Spain’s artisanal and culinary culture was imagined by a creative duo: Japanese poet-writer-translator Ryoko Sekiguchi and French-Colombian artist and photographer Felipe Ribon, who has worked with the Bouroullec brothers and exhibited at Palais de Tokyo in Paris. This Route de Bonheur guides travellers through the mountainous region of Valence and the exquisite wine collection at Atrio in Cáceres.

Kerala | The Smile of India

Kerala, on India’s tropical Malabar Coast, offers a blend of tradition and nature, its airs filled with aromas of tea and spices. Photojournalist Jean-François Guggenheim shines the spotlight on this sensory awakening through Ayurveda, yoga, naturopathy and meditation. The itinerary guides travellers from the rich city of Kochi to the thriving Bangalore.

The second part of the guide is dedicated to all of the countries with Relais & Châteaux properties, with each property showcased for its unique flavour. Five exciting new destinations have been added for 2018: Bucharest, Tanzania, Sardinia, the Aeolian Islands and Grenada. The free guide will be available in French and English at Relais & Châteaux properties starting January 2018.
