The 6th edition of the artisan wine fair, RAW, will be hosted in Berlin this November for a one-day only boutique viticulture extravaganza…
RAW | Berlin

After the roaring success of the last fair that took place back in May the next edition on 29th November at Markthalle Neun, is set to take the city by storm as it welcomes over 120 wine growers, a cider producer, artisan spirits producer as well as a taste of junmaishu sake to top it all off.

The artisan wine growers will come together from over 14 different countries to share, taste and celebrate the world of organic, biodynamic and natural wines.

Organised by Isabelle Legeron MW, a natural wine expert and author, the fair was originally designed to help shine the spotlight on lesser known, artisan, or natural wine producers, so that they could represent her beliefs that wine should have authenticity of taste and free of additives and external manipulation. As France’s first and only female Master of Wine she has helped take this movement from strength to strength, making it now one of the most essential dates on the international wine calendar.

With this being a first for Berlin and one of the largest fairs to take place in Germany as a whole, it is definitely a must for any budding wine connoisseur in the city.

And with this ever-growing interest and demand for wines labeled as natural, biodynamic and organic for individual and gourmet establishments alike, the RAW fair aims to demystify these titles and simply spread the word, or taste, about how delicious these wines are.

Not only that, the producers who are invited to the event are some of the world’s foremost winegrowers and feel it’s their duty to highlight how their delicious biodynamic and organic wines are made with minimal additives, are kind to the planet, are free of the dozens of additives and processing agents, and therefore might actually be the way forward for what is considered ‘conventional’ wine production.

During this highly sought after event, visitors will have a chance to discuss any of these ideas with the growers themselves, ensuring that any questions about the wines you may have can be answered directly by the experts.

Most importantly of all visitors to the event can enjoy a multitude of individual tastings of all the wines available. Whether you fancy a tipple of a better-known variety, or a newly represented wine, there is a whole wealth of international wines in store to be discovered at RAW Berlin.

If you didn’t think this latest edition could get any better, then you’ll be happy to hear that over the weekend of 27th-29th November, the RAW fair and producers will also be working in tandem with some of the city’s top fine dining and highly acclaimed restaurants such as Restaurant Reinstoff, and Nobelhart & Schmutzig, plus specially organized cultural events at Das Fest, Cordobar, Maxim Weinbar, as well as within theatres and clubs.

So, if you really want to enjoy the festive ‘spirits’, then this fair really has something for amateur and connoisseur alike. If you are looking for wines that promote purity shaped by the terroir, not by chemicals, as well as expert advice and a plethora of after parties, then RAW Wine Berlin is the place to go.
