As wine traders with roots dating back to the 1600s, the family of Bottega S.p.A know a thing or two about what it takes to produce Italian wines and liquors par excellence. With their forefather cultivating wine in the hills near Molinetto della Croda in Refrontolo and his future successors having a passion for oenology and grappa production, it was a very organic and inevitable industry for the Bottega family to be involved in.
The family live and breathe the taste and joy of the quintessential Italian lifestyle, so they work tirelessly to promote ‘Made in Italy’ with their products. From the vineyard to the bottle, each moment of product creation is monitored with artisan care and attention to detail. Bottega’s artisan style and the connection with the territory make its prized products unique and unrepeatable elsewhere.
Likewise, their love for the land means that the current directors, Sandro, Barbara and Stefano Bottega, are heavily investing in sustainability measures to preserve the environment for future generations. Currently, all their production phases follow sustainability criteria that aim to save water, reduce CO2 emissions and chemicals to the minimum, and recycle waste materials. Their determination to save energy and use renewable sources has even driven the company to only buy electricity from certified renewable sources.
To date, Bottega S.p.A produces 88% less than the industry average for its carbon emissions in its distillery and an impressive 99% less in the winery, equating to 1.241 tonnes of carbon saved. (Reports by Life Gate and commissioned by Assodistil and by Ecoinvent)
This attention to detail to not just the final product but all of the process and people involved in Bottega’s winemaking makes this company truly special. In fact, their efforts and hard work have received international recognition on numerous occasions, and, as a result, the company has received over 350 prizes and awards for their exceptional wines and spirits.
Constantly pushing for innovation with new wine vintages that use original and inventive elements, one of the best-sellers of the Bottega S.p.A portfolio is the Rose Gold Pinot Nero Spumante Brut Rosé. This delicious rosé sparkling wine is obtained through the vinification of Pinot Nero grapes from Lombardy. Grown in vineyards that stretch the length of the Po river in the south of the region, the favourable climate and the fertile lands produce outstanding grapes.
After careful hand-picking and de-stemming, cold maceration and soft pressing to remove skins, the base wine then undergoes a second fermentation according to the Martinotti method. This involves adding selected yeasts, which allow the sparkling wine to retain the flavour of the base wine and yield fresh, fruity wines, enhanced further by the aromatic grape variety used. In the Bottega Rose Gold this is characterised by floral and fruity notes, mainly mixed berries, currants and wild strawberries.
Before being put on the market, it is left in the cellar until it re-establishes its balance to create a consistent end product in keeping with Bottega’s quality control. With a delicate pink colour and fine and persistent perlage, the Bottega Rose Gold is a fine, structured sparkling wine that works well as an aperitif or to accompany a whole meal. As a vegan certified wine, Bottega Rose Gold is an excellent choice for legume dishes, rice or quinoa salads with seasonal vegetables. In particular, it goes well with tasty risottos with vegetables, savoury pies, chickpea hummus with crudités, roasted or sautéed vegetables with soy sauce and sesame, and borlotti or cannellini bean salads. It is also a pleasant after-dinner tipple, and the striking and ornate rose gold bottle is a welcome touch to any sophisticated soirée.
Found in more than 150 countries worldwide, Bottega S.p.A’s superb Italian wines and spirits are stocked in leading airports, premium wine shops, specialised department stores, exclusive clubs, fine restaurants, and classy hotels from the USA to Australia and South Africa to Northern Europe.
