Popular British television series, Downton Abbey, inspires a range of Bordeaux to accompany season four

Oddly, Knockout Licensing, the company behind Downton, have collaborated with Wines that Rock to create the beverage.Wines that Rock brand themselves as the ‘Official Wine of Rock and Roll’ and have produced wines inspired by The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and Woodstock Music Festival.Wonder what the Crawley family would have to say about that.

The wine will be French, in keeping with the sort of grape the Crawleys would have had access to in the post-Edwardian era.The French estate that will produce the Bordeaux Claret and the Bordeaux white has been producing wine for over 130 years.Co-owner of Wines that Rock, Bill Zysblat believes these Bordeaux “are the wines the Crawley family would have been proud to serve at Downton”.

Downton Abbey, which premiered in the UK in September 2010 and in the USA in January 2011, is watched by 120 million people in over 200 countries. When series four finally rolls around, just how many of them will be kicking back to watch with a Downton Bordeaux in hand? Or better still, how many will be getting their butlers to serve it for them?Lady Grantham would expect nothing less.
