A pure, crisp and refreshing taste experience, No. 3 London Dry Gin brings together the flavours of juniper, citrus, and spice in perfect harmony. Award-winning and ideal for any and every occasion, FOUR takes a closer look at the gin that’s been lauded as the ‘World’s Best’ four times.

Produced in a unique 100-year-old, brick-encased copper pot still in Holland – the home of gin – No. 3 Gin meets the exacting standards expected of such a high-quality spirit. Made in the traditional way using carefully-selected ingredients, including coriander, angelica root, cardamom, grapefruit peel, sweet orange peel and juniper, No. 3 Gin boasts the distinct flavours of a London dry gin, distilled with the utmost expertise and devotion. With perfection as the end goal, the gin was crafted in collaboration with the world’s top master distillers and experts in liquid design, including Dr David Clutton – the only person in the world to have a PhD in gin.

To get the recipe just right, more than two years were spent painstakingly refining every step to ensure the final product’s exceptional quality. Brought to the market by London’s oldest wine and spirit merchant, Berry Bros. & Rudd, which was established in 1698, the gin embodies the brand’s ideals of precision and passion. From humble beginnings to becoming a world-renowned tipple, No. 3 Gin has taken the drinks industry by storm, winning a host of awards for both the spirit itself and its sublime packaging, from respected contests such as the  San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the International Wine & Spirit Competition and The Global Spirits Masters.

Tasting Notes

Staying true to the strict regulations for a London Dry style gin, No.3 Gin brings juniper to the fore, both on the nose and palate. Botanicals are infused in the second distillation, and support the juniper with floral and spicy notes. Only the very best ingredients are used to infuse the gin, with each batch carefully inspected before being added.

Nose: Bright, crisp and fresh with an uplifting welcome of juniper.

Palate: Juniper to the fore, supported by floral notes and spicy, warm cardamom. Plenty of citrus ‘zing’ complemented by the gingery spiciness of coriander.

Finish: The earthy dryness of angelica kicks in.

Awards

In 2019, No. 3 Gin became the only gin ever to be awarded the ‘World’s Best’ four times at the International Spirits Challenge. The superior gin also nabbed the prestigious Supreme Champion Spirit Award – an accolade frequently won by aged spirits – making history as the first gin to be crowned the overall winner of all of the spirits.

In 2020, the accolades continued to pour in. No. 3 Gin was the only London Dry Gin to be awarded Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2020. It was too lauded with 96 points (Gold) at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2020, the highest score awarded for a London Dry Gin. No.3 was also awarded Masters in The Gin Masters and The Design & Packaging Masters at The Global Spirits Masters 2020 – the only gin to achieve this in the Super Premium category.

Bottle Design

In 2020, the bottle was redesigned by Stranger & Stranger, and the new design has brought exceptional growth for the brand. The hexagonal bottle shape represents each of the six botanicals in the No. 3 recipe; while the turquoise hue of the bottle signifies the refreshing taste delivered by the perfect balance of juniper, citrus and spice.

The name and iconic key have remained front and centre in the design as a proud homage to Berry Bros. & Rudd, reflecting the brand creator’s home at No. 3 St James’ street for over 320 years. The key also reflects the brand’s promise of delivering exceptional quality in every bottle.
