After Jonnie Boer, Akira Oshima, Dennis Kuipers and Onno Kokmeijer, a new culinary companion arises. Baoase Luxury Resort and its chef René Klop will be joined by Sidney Schutte (Spectrum**) for the returning event Vive la Gastronomie. On August 2nd and 3rd, the two chefs celebrate exceptional dishes and wines with an exclusive 30 couverts dinner. A celebration for guests of Baoase, as well as locals who follow their culinary hearts to the resort.
Chef Klop comments on Sidney’s invitation to the event: ‘With Sidney’s impressive resume and signature style, our lagoon will once again be graced with gastronomic greatness.’ And a great two nights it will be!
Sidney Schutte brings years of culinary experience to the kitchen table. After ten years at De Librije*** in Zwolle and three years at Amber** in Hong Kong, Sidney settled down in Amsterdam. Since 2013, he runs the kitchen of Spectrum**, formerly known as Librije’s Zusje.
Executive Chef René Klop left the kitchen of La Rive in Amsterdam for Curaçao, bringing a suitcase full of French techniques along with him. Curaçao brought a whiff of tropical influences and Asian flavors. Add tremendous ambition, and beach-proof dishes become something more. Fresher. Refined. But still with a sandals-and-sundress-attitude. It is a cuisine that doesn’t exclusively attract guests or locals to the tucked-away lagoon. As Klop says: ‘We want to share the love for gastronomy with our guests’, and this is the inspiration behind Vive la Gastrnomie.
On August 2nd and 3rd, Schutte will bring his culinary prowess to Baoase Luxury Resort, and alongside Klop and his team, the chefs will prepare seven unique courses – including amuses, wine pairing and water – for $250 per person. This two-night only culinary companionship will take place on the private beach and can be enjoyed by 30 diners per evening.
