Rio de Janeiro is in for an exciting few years: The Olympics will take place there in three years’ time; the Football World Cup is heading out there next June; and in January 2014 Rio will become home to an exciting new restaurant collaboration.
Brazil’s most famous chef, Alex Atala, and 21 times Michelin star chef Alain Ducasse are joining forces to open a new restaurant in Brazil’s capital. No name has been announced yet but it is likely the restaurant will feature a blend of traditional Brazilian dishes with European influences.
Ducasse revealed his and Atala’s intentions to Vogue Magazine, Brazil, adding “I hope the project goes well because Brazil is an amazing country and I love Brazilians.”
Atala currently owns D.O.M., recently voted the best restaurant in South America at The World’s 50 Best Restaurant awards. Ducasse has several 3 Michelin star restaurants and has clocked up a total of 21 stars over his illustrious career.
With a wealth of experience between them and a commitment to Amazonian ingredients alongside European flavours, Ducasse and Atala’s collaboration looks to be a culinary highlight of next year.
