Where Art is Lived and Loved

ArtConsult gallery is an art salon in the finest sense of the word…

Back in the time when Munich was still surrounded by meter-thick walls, the Wurzertor, a city gate, was located here and was used by wayfarers to enter the capital and royal seat of Bavaria. 400 years later, the towers and fortifications have disappeared. But Munich has remained a capital, a capital of the arts. And once again today, travelers and inquisitive people are offered entry and acceptance – into a world in which art lives and is loved . . .

ArtConsult is something special in the Munich gallery landscape. That may be due to the historical forces at work here in the heart of the old city. But above all, it is a matter of philosophy. The gallery is seen as an art salon in the finest sense of the word. As a “modern age salon” in which everything resonates with everything that comprises the concept of a salon. A place of encounter, equally cosmopolitan and private, where one can talk and discuss and philosophize and quietly enjoy. All of this against a backdrop of exquisite contemporary art that is allowed to stimulate and inspire, that seeks to be comprehended, discussed, but above all admired and felt and experienced with all the senses. The gallery concept is rounded out with readings, concerts, and lectures.

As a gallery, ArtConsult concentrates on the art of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a main focus on Expressionism, Zero, and Pop Art, as well as on interpretations of these art movements by contemporary artists. Here the best of contacts guarantee not only an exciting mixture of established artists but also of very promising up and coming artists. True to the spirit of the salon concept, the owner, Dirk G. Kronsbein, and his team see to it that the first class artists are matched with a crowd of equally first class art enthusiasts, information disseminators and key network players, and patrons.

Included in the network are numerous cultural institutions like the Bavarian State Opera as well as luxury brands and publishers like Condé Nast, Burda and teNeues. The overriding credo is: Art can and should be bought. But not as a coldly calculated, intellectual investment. Art should be appealing and pleasing, and arouse emotions. Only then does the investment become a valuable investment that is a joy to all the senses. Besides the exhibitions, the gallery operates like a classic art gallery, dealing in works in its special field. As a consultant, ArtConsult stands for individual interior decorating concepts that equally balance and do justice to contemporary art, quality of life, and interior design.

Along with appropriate concepts for business spaces, professional offices and practices, and private prestige objects, the gallery also acts as a consultant to hotels. Being permanently available to the client and building a relationship of close confidence is always considered a top priority.

The Owner

The ArtConsult gallery was founded in 2011 by Dirk G. Kronsbein. It was first located in Maximilianstraße and since 2013 in Wurzerstraße. The successful entrepreneur was long an industry leader as founder of the ultrafilter international AG, an internationally active producer of high performance filters and Innovative purification solutions for compressed air, technical gases and fluids. With the ART SALON, the native of Münster has provided a professional environment for his private passion as patron and collector of the arts. Dirk G. Kronsbein is member and sponsor of culture promoting associations like the PIN. Freunde der Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich’s art association, the Konzertgesellschaft München e.V., the Bavarian State Opera’s Opernstudio, Tegernsee’s podium for young soloists (Freundeskreis für die Förderung junger Musiker e.V. Tegernsee), and the Kreuth am Tegernsee International Music Festival, and for years has supported and promoted artists like Olga Scheps, Sandra Urba, and Amadeus Wiesensee.

The Gallerist

The ART SALON is managed by Sarah Kronsbein, who previously developed integrated concepts for office buildings and hotels as interior decorator. In cooperation with external curators and experts of contemporary art, she plans exhibits and produces books and catalogs of exhibitions and works. The art historian Eva-Maria von Gienanth, who has many years of experience in dealing with art (incl. as director at Galerie Sprüth Magers), has been supporting the gallery since January 2014.
