Overlooking Bloomsbury’s Russell Square and decked in Royal Doulton thé-au-lait terracotta, the stunning building was originally designed by Charles Fitzroy Doll in 1898.
Reopening its doors to guests this April, the property will now boast 334 bedrooms and suites, ranging from City singles and guest rooms to 39 suites. These will include the lavish two-bedroom Principal suite, which enjoys views of Russell Square and enchanting interiors.
Lead designers Tara Bernerd & Partners have worked with the Principal in-house team to design the interiors of the rooms, in keeping with the heritage of the building while reflecting Bernerd’s signature mix of contemporary layers on top of original, listed features.
Guests can expect custom-made furniture, plus ceramic and marble bathrooms. Designed to evoke a luxurious feel, the in-room amenities include Ruark music systems, The Perfumer’s Story toiletries and specially commissioned artwork.
The Principal London will also offer a range of number of fabulous places to eat and drink during a visit.

Visitors can also feast at Neptune, an all day dining restaurant seating 120 guests. The eatery will feature an innovative approach to the classic oyster bar and a new style of British caviar service, with a seafood-focused menu paired with wood-fired cooking.
Coffee fans can also pitstop at the Burr & Co coffeehouse and bar, open from 7am and serving Caravan coffee, tea, pastries and breakfast items. to eat in or grab-and-go.
