This September, The Peninsula Hotels will take its celebrated Motoring Series to Europe for the first time, charting a six-day driving adventure through the Scottish Highlands. Long associated with refined hospitality and carefully curated experiences, the brand is once again stepping beyond the walls of its properties—this time guiding an intimate group of motoring enthusiasts across mountain passes, through historic estates and into the kind of shared encounters that turn a journey into something more enduring.
Following previous editions in Japan and California, the Scottish itinerary marks a significant new chapter. Beginning on 21 September 2026, The Peninsula Motoring Series, Scotland will gather participants for six days of driving, cultural immersion and conviviality set against one of Britain’s most cinematic landscapes. The programme joins The Peninsula’s growing calendar of automotive events, which most recently included The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best at The Peninsula Paris in January.
“These driving experiences reflect our belief that luxury travel today is about depth, not distance,” said Kai Lermen, Senior Vice President, The Peninsula Signature Events. “When we bring The Peninsula to Scotland, we are not just organising a trip, we are fostering a global community of people who share a genuine passion for motoring, discovery, and authentic connection. Participants from our previous experiences tell us that years later, they remain in touch with the friends they made on these journeys. We are creating memories that stay with you long after the road ends.”
From London to the Highlands
The journey begins at The Peninsula London, where guests will meet, dine and exchange stories before the engines start. After a visit to the city’s Royal Automobile Club, the group will fly north to Edinburgh and continue to the storied estate of Gleneagles. Here, participants will be introduced to the classic, era-specific vehicles that will accompany them for the remainder of the itinerary.
Designed for a small group, the route threads through Highland passes, coastal roads and quiet glens. Drivers will navigate the mountains and forests of Cairngorms National Park, trace the curves of the elevated Applecross Pass, and pause at traditional inns for leisurely lunches. The scenery—lochs edged with mist, sweeping moorland, dramatic peaks—provides a constantly shifting backdrop.
Beyond the road, the experience unfolds at a more measured pace. Guests will spend three nights at an exclusive historic estate set amid gardens and woodland. Local produce and regional specialities shape the menus, with Scotland’s whisky heritage woven throughout. Time is set aside to explore nearby villages and to try time-honoured pursuits including falconry, archery, axe-throwing and Scotch tasting.
Participation in The Peninsula Motoring Series, Scotland is priced at GBP 27,500 per car for two guests, inclusive of five nights’ accommodation, all meals and activities. Enquiries can be directed to pse@peninsula.com.
The Peninsula Motoring Series around the world
The Scottish Highlands may be the newest setting, but the Motoring Series has long been a fixture on the international automotive calendar.
The Peninsula Motoring Series, California
From 10–12 August 2026, the California edition—commonly known as The Quail Rally—returns to the Monterey Peninsula for its 29th year, coinciding with Monterey Car Week. The three-day drive takes in the cliffs of Big Sur and the redwood-lined slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains, combining scenic routes with privileged access to key events.
Participants enjoy driving opportunities at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and attendance at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, The Peninsula’s classic car and luxury lifestyle showcase.
Participation is priced at USD 10,500 per car for two guests, inclusive of all meals and activities. Guests may opt to stay at The Quail Lodge, where room rates start at USD 357 per night.
The Peninsula Motoring Series, Japan
Looking ahead to 2027, the Japan edition will return following the success of its inaugural 2025 drive. The route introduced participants to the country’s cultural and automotive contrasts, pairing dramatic landscapes with immersive experiences and culminating at an exclusive racing venue. The 2027 programme promises new discoveries while building on the spirit of the original journey.
Whether navigating California’s coastal roads, Japan’s mountain routes or Scotland’s Highland passes, The Peninsula Motoring Series continues to cultivate a global network of enthusiasts united by a shared appreciation for driving, design and connection.
