Cádiz’s Hotel Almenara is currently undergoing an extensive renovation, and is set to reopen in Spring of 2021. The hotel will be rebranded as ‘SO/ Sotogrande’, a  5-star luxury destination part of Accor Hotels .

The luxury lifestyle brand of Accor, SO/ Hotels & Resorts, is teaming up with renowned developer Sotogrande SA to bring a chic new hotel to the Spanish coast. The hotel will be the first SO/ property in Spain and will reflect the brand’s rebellious luxury style within the idyllic Costa del Sol setting. Blending exclusivity with the brand’s commitment to dynamic gastronomy and spirited wellness, the completely re-imagined SO/ Sotogrande is expected to open in Spring 2021.

An illustrious destination on Spain’s southern tip, Sotogrande is renowned for its high-end residential, leisure and sports offerings. Ideally positioned on the famed Mediterranean coast between Marbella and Gibraltar, SO/ Sotogrande will serve as the perfect mid-point from which travelers can easily explore Andalusia in all its glory. From reveling in Tarifa with its boho spirit to sauntering through Jerez’s vineyards or strolling through the authentic and picturesque villages such Ronda and its rich Moorish history, SO/ Sotogrande’s location makes adventuring effortless.

SO/ Sotogrande’s focus will be on bringing forward distinctive and sophisticated services that celebrate Mediterranean culture. With awe-inspiring social spaces and views across Sotogrande, the new luxury hotel will invite guests to enjoy every aspect of the vibrant locale. With 151 stylish rooms and 24 suites, the new venue will set heightened standards for true luxury hospitality within the destination.

Along with modern architecture, the SO/ Sotogrande will also feature extensive landscaped gardens with breathtaking views of the sea, Gibraltar and the Andalusian countryside. Its enviable address will have guests in close proximity to some of the most exceptional golf and polo fields in Europe, while only being a short drive from the international airports of Malaga, Gibraltar and Jerez, and half an hour away from Marbella and Puerto Banús.

With the avant-garde backbone of SO/ Hotels and Resorts, the new SO/ Sotogrande will undoubtedly follow suit in redefining the traditional codes of hospitality through the lens of an unconventional savoir-faire. Poised to become one of the most sought-after holiday and leisure destinations in southern Europe, guests looking to travel for work or pleasure will be spoiled for choice with the hotel’s impressive facilities, which include five swimming pools, nine dining spaces, more than 2000 sqm of spa and fitness facilities, and nearly 1000 sqm of conference and meeting space, including an outdoor auditorium.

Sotogrande stands out from other similar first-class European destinations thanks to the sheer width, breadth and variety of its premier sports and leisure offerings. Three of Europe’s best golf courses (Real Club Valderrama, La Reserva Club and Real Club de Golf Sotogrande) can be found within a four kilometer radius; an expanded equine infrastructure with three polo clubs is also in the vicinity, celebrating the fine Andalucían equestrian culture; and the nearby Mediterranean shore provides the perfect setting for watersports. The region’s 1300 sqm nature reserve also provides a much-needed tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the crowds.

SO/ Sotogrande is an exciting new addition to the SO/ portfolio, which includes recent additions such as SO/ Paseo del Prado Havana, SO/ Auckland, SO/ Berlin Das Stue, SO/Vienna and SO/ St. Petersburg. Each SO/ hotel is an trailblazing masterpiece with a distinctive character brought to life by the touch and artistic vision of renowned designers. With an ambitious plan to expand its global presence in the coming years, SO/ plans to open new hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Koh Samui, Dubai, Paris, Melbourne, and Los Cabos, in addition to the SO/ Sotogrande.
