Founded in 2010 by National Institute of Fashion Design graduate Gautam Sinha, Nappa Dori’s first store was opened in his hometown of Hauz Khas Village in Delhi, India. From a single store to over 20 countries, Sinha’s balance of artisanal sensibilities and minimalism has propelled Nappa Dori products to iconic status amongst those seeking high-end bags, luggage, and daily accessories.
Through his fashion journey, Sinha was inspired by his Indian heritage and the expertise and mastery of local craftspeople. In drawing from these sources, Nappa Dori came to represent a melding of heritage with the contemporary, a reflection of the nostalgic journeys of bygone eras within the current needs of modern travellers. Today, Nappa Dori’s design aesthetic sees a confluence of contemporary interpretations with threads of Indian cultural heritage that align with internationally aspirational aesthetics. Products such as the ultra-chick, all black, Aviator luggage set, the sleek and versatile Grenadier shoulder bag, or the diverse city-inspired Northern Lines collection showcase the functional beauty of well-crafted leather products when joined with a clear artisanal vision.
Today, Nappa Dori remains in India but has expanded to another flagship store in the United Kingdom and boutiques in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Maldives. With extensive online retail access and product ranges available at leading design stores, including the Fortnum & Mason, Conran Shop, and Selfridges, there is little doubt that Nappa Dori will continue to be worn by celebrities within the glossiest pages of fashion media.
