Taking place in celebration of the hotel’s heritage and association with the famous Pulitzer Prize, the iconic Pulitzer Amsterdam is hosting a number of intimate gatherings with Pulitzer-acclaimed writers throughout 2019.
Ideal for travelers with a thirst for the written word, this iconic five-star hotel is steeped in a wealth of history. Boasting an eccentric yet luxurious lobby complete with a cosy library showcasing a whole host of Pulitzer Prize winning books, it also boasts an exclusive Book Collector’s Suite – complete with its own private entrance, library and striking archway made entirely of books.
A total must-book, the Lunch & Literature Series will only pay homage to the beautiful property but it also aims to celebrate the life of its much-loved founder – who was the great grandson of newspaper publisher and Pulitzer Prize founder, Joseph Pulitzer.
Peter Pulitzer touched many people’s hearts during his lifetime and described the development of the hotel as a “labour of love”.
Taking place in the hotel’s stately Copper Rooms, which lend themselves perfectly to the series of intimate talks thanks to their secluded location, the exciting series will launch with a focus on American literature.
Kicking off the series on Saturday 23rd February is Pulitzer Prize-winning author and poet, Tyehimba Jess, who won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for his book Olio which focuses on the story behind America’s blues, work songs and church hymns.
Settle in with a refreshing glass of cava, before listening to a Pulitzer Prize nominated writer discuss their works and career, detailing how and why the world-renowned prize is so important in the world of literature.
What’s more, attendees will also have the chance to ask the writer any burning questions and open the floor up to discussion, focusing on topics that relate to the literary world over lunch from the hotel’s restaurant, Jansz.
The three-course lunch will include dishes such as beef tartare served with a quail egg; orecchiette pasta with truffle and crème brulee as well as a glass of wine or soft drinks.
