Marriott International Set to Open Three EDITION Hotels in 2020

Marriott International‘s refined and minimalist-chic brand EDITION will bring its luxury offerings to three new cities this year, with luxury EDITION hotels opening in Japan, Iceland and Dubai.

Founded through a collaboration between boutique hotel creator and innovator Ian Schrager and hotel giant Marriott International, EDITION hotels represent a new generation of luxury. Designed to feel exclusive to their locale, the individualized hotels give guests a curated taste of what makes the city unique, reflecting the best of its cultural and social aspects, and the new EDITION hotels will be no different.


The Tokyo EDITION Toranomon is set to open mid-2020 in the city’s upmarket Toranomon district and will be the first EDITION hotel in Japan. The hotel has 206 rooms, including 22 suites, that boast cascading views of Tokyo’s skyscraper-embellished skyline. The Tokyo EDITION will also be home to various of food and beverage outlets along with dedicated meeting and events spaces, a swimming pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center and a spa with 6 treatment rooms.

One of the 3 onsite dining  spots will a specialty restaurant with an outdoor terrace overlooking Tokyo Tower. An all-day dining venue, lobby lounge and 3 lounge bars will also open in the hotel, including EDITION’s much-loved Punch Room cocktail bar. With its central location near the subway stations of Kamiyacho, Roppongi-Itchome and Toranomon, the hotel offers easy access to some of Tokyo’s most iconic sites, including the Tokyo Tower and Tsukiji fish market.


Located in the city’s downtown area adjacent to the prominent Harpa Concert Hall, the Reykjavik EDITION will draw on the vibrancy and beauty of Iceland’s historical capital. Along with 250 rooms and suites, the hotel will boast a private rooftop, nightlife space and ballroom as designed by the Ian Schrager Company in collaboration with T.arch and designers Roman & Williams. Guests and locals will also be treated to diverse culinary offerings with three restaurants and a café set to be located in the hotel.


EDITION’s Middle East footprint will also expand later this year with the launch of the Dubai EDITION, which will be the second hotel in the UAE following the opening of the Abu Dhabi EDITION in 2019. Located in downtown Dubai opposite the world-famous Dubai Mall, the hotel will feature 210 rooms and suites, along with seven restaurants, swimming pools, pool deck dining, a spa and fitness center and event spaces with multiple meeting rooms and a ballroom.

Since the launch of the EDITION lifestyle concept in 2007, the brand now operates 10 hotels in New York, London, Miami Beach, West Hollywood, Barcelona, Shanghai, Sanya, Abu Dhabi and Bodrum, with another 15 hotels in the pipeline which will more than double the brand’s footprint in the coming years.
