Luxury Layover with Sherry Roberts

Founder of The Longest Stay – an online home interiors boutique – Sherry Roberts tells FOUR about her perfect weekend…

I’d wake up in…

Porto Ercole. The Italian town located on the eastern side of Monte Argentario peninsula, surrounded by the Laguna di Orbetello and the Tombolo della Feniglia. I love the glamour, good food and luxurious yachts in a place that not everyone knows about. It may be smaller than Porto Santo Stefano but it’s far more vibrant, shunning the relaxed, homely atmosphere of its neighboring port. It’s not far from Rome, so I can spend a few days in my home there and then shoot up there at a moments notice.

And stay at…

Hotel Pellican. I’d stay in one of their cottages scattered in their botanical gardens, where the world of design, artisans and actors have slept such as Emilio Pucci, Gianni Agnelli and Henry Fonda. It’s utterly romantic, full of rich history and unspoiled.

Breakfast would be…

Cornetto with marmalade, cappuccino and fresh fruit. I like to keep it simple.

I would wear..

.My La Perla black one-piece swimsuit and kaftans from Italian designer Emamo in an orange print and a pair of Hawainanas as I plan to be on the sea all day.

And take these travel essentials…

Lancaster suntan lotion, Aveda Hair Sun Care, Kiehl’s face cream, Kerastase hair products and makeup from Benefit.

I’d listen to…

A good mix of 80s music. I’m stuck in my generation, I must say, plus some chill-out tracks from Buddha Bar compilations. I can be quietly content, although I can also listen to Cold Play for hours on end.

And visit…

Isola Giglio. Just 16km from Monte Argentario and reachable by boat from Porte Ercole, it’s nature’s heaven on earth. Pine forests and numerous vineyards extend across the undulated landscape and after a long walk, a glass of their local amber coloured wine Ansonaco, is an absolute must…

Have lunch at…

Osteria dei Nobili Santi in the Argentario Polo Club. As I love to entertain, I’d buy a case of Brunello and bring it back to London.

Hang out with…

Close friends of mine from Italy. Claudia and Matteo Provinzano who have a home in Porto Ercole and introduced me to this gorgeous region.

Relax at…

Out at sea on their boat.

Drink…

A glass of prosecco before dinner.

Chat with…

Local artisans – whenever I travel – it’s second nature to try and discover unique people & pieces for The Longest Stay’s curated collection.

And wind down the evening having dinner at…

Il Pelicano a two star Michelin restaurant when I’m desiring a treat or celebrating something special. Otherwise, I’d head down to the harbor to enjoy the best fresh fish from La Pinta.
