FOUR’s designer Pieter gives us his take on London featuring the London borough of Wandsworth.

Wandsworth takes its name from the River Wandle and with its green spaces and riverside parks is one of London’s most sought-after boroughs. Wandsworth Town is in the centre of all this with fashionable boutiques and taste delights in artisan cafés. One of the most exiting new developments in Wandsworth is The Ram Quarter, a new residential and retail quarter, combining contemporary living with iconic heritage at the historic Young’s brewery site. Its stylish new apartments will overlook The Ram Quarter’s dynamic public realm, with its mix of bustling cafés, shops, bars and historic listed buildings. The development will help redefine Wandsworth Town and incorporate a brewery museum and microbrewery whilst an iconic tower will offer spectacular views across London.

Chez Bruce remains a favourite of many. It sits in the old premise of the legendary Harveys, Marco Pierre White’s original restaurant and looks out on to Wandsworth common. High-end Modern French dining with a professional yet relaxed atmosphere.

Konnigans is a quirky little restaurant in the heart of Wandsworth Town, serving contemporary British food with influences from the Mediterranean and South East Asia. It has a good atmosphere and lovely staff.

For those with a sweet tooth, head down to the river Thames and visit Cake Boy, Eric Lanlard’s luxurious but relaxed cake boutique. The café offers a stylish and relaxing environment in which to enjoy a selection of London’s most exquisite patisserie, freshly made each day on the premises.

The Boathouse is a modern 3-floor pub overlooking the river Thames. The bar is spacious and relaxed whereas the upper deck has intimate seating and a more secluded feel. The garden out front is legendary during the summer months and is always a hot-seat during the annual University boat race.

The Ship is also located on the banks of the Thames by Wandsworth Bridge. It’s extensive outside area is complete with it’s own bar, pergola and private heated booths. The barbecue, which caters for the bar and outside areas, runs straight through until 10 pm every day during the summer months.

Southside shopping centre occupies much of the town centre of Wandsworth, with five blocks of apartments, and the River Wandle running in a culvert underneath. It’s a quality retail and relax leisure destination. They have top shopping brands, the most desirable food outlets and stores and the best cinema and gym in town.

Battersea Park is a 200-acre green space situated on the south bank of the River Thames opposite Chelsea, and was opened in 1858. The park is home to a small children’s zoo, a boating lake, a bandstandand all-weather outdoor sporting facilities including tennis courts, a running track and football pitches.
