When most people picture the Maldives, overwater accommodation comes to mind – usually in the form of chic wooden buildings. But Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi is bringing a unique alternative to the Indian Ocean scene with the launch of their stylish new safari-style tented jungle villas.
With the trend for experiential travel continuing to make tracks, luxury travellers – or ‘Luxplorers’ – are adapting a ‘carpe diem’ mindset, pursuing adventures that allow them to traverse the world in style
Now, guests can check-into safari-style Tented Jungle Villas, a chic accommodation offering an authentic alfresco experience in the heart of the resort’s inland jungle, to unleash the explorer in every traveller.
A unique alternative to traditional overwater accommodation, the Tented Jungle Villas house an outdoor rain shower, roll-top tub and locally-sourced, rustic interiors.
Set in their own private wonderland of wilderness, the new buildings have been built to mirror the beauty and diversity of the island’s verdant flora and fauna. Designed with wooden frames, amber-toned interiors and walls swathed in white canvas, travellers have the opportunity to get closer to nature.
Inside awaits a master suite with a Californian king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom, a spacious alfresco lounge, complete with handmade wooden furnishings, and a Sala for communal dining that overlooks the private pool and outdoor bath tub.
Of course, there’s plenty to keep guests entertained. For film aficionados, private pop-up cinema screenings can be organised in the Tented Jungle Villas, showcasing cult classics and blockbusters under the stars.
You can also sail to a nearby deserted island for a castaway picnic, should a gourmet expedition take your fancy. Set your alarm and head out to sea for a sunrise fishing trip and learn the art of Maldivian line fishing, or pitch up at the r jungle abode for a private BBQ.
If it’s relaxation your after, the Maldivian jungle is perfect. Enjoy a spa treatment in the privacy of your villa or simply bask under the swaying palms by the beach.
