Eco-luxury lovers, take a peek inside this Bangkok luxury boutique eco-hotel’s chic sustainable restaurant. akyra TAS Sukhumvit Bangkok has opened a new dining and drinking establishment just a short walk from Bangkok’s vibrant thoroughfare and shopping mecca, Sukhumvit Road.
The hotel’s chic ground-floor eatery, Siam Soul Café features a spacious, contemporary retro design – picture rich textures, classic marble, modern monochrome tones and Thai inspired touches. Hotel guests and locals alike can enjoy a varied breakfast menu with craft coffees, as well as an elaborate choice of Thai and Western gourmet food served throughout the day.
The modest yet fresh and inventive menu was co-created by the hotel’s Swiss manager, Thomas Singenberger and its Thai Executive Chef Sutthaporn Chulavachana. Thomas previously worked with prestigious La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, and Chef Sutthaporn is one of Thailand’s most experienced female chefs.
She specialises in Southeast Asian fusion cuisine and honed her culinary skills in the kitchens of global hotel brands such as Shangri La Bangkok, Intercontinental Shenzen and Sheraton Wuhan in China.
With sustainability at the core of this restaurant, menu details mirror its ethos. Guests can devour the chef’s own take on a classic Thai red curry with tender slow-cooked beef cheek infused with dried chili, galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime, garlic and coriander.
On the western side, the akyra breakfast tortilla served with cheesy scrambled eggs is already a firm favourite at Siam Soul Café, while the smoked pulled pork burger is a hit with the lunchtime crowd and the quinoa salad with tomato and avocado satisfies healthy appetites.
Delicious desserts include a light raspberry panna cotta, irresistible mango sticky rice and the chef’s own banana coconut soufflé.
The 50-room akyra TAS Sukhumvit Bangkok is the first single-use plastic free hotel to launch in Asia. Prices start from £90 per night for a double room on a bed and breakfast basis. To find out more and make a booking, please click here.
