When some of the world’s most influential and passionate humanitarian minds come together, great things can happen. Couple that with art, celebrities and arguably Italy’s most influential chef, , and you have the I Defend Gala in support of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Europe foundation.
What is the I Defend Gala? The first of its kind, the gala is being hosted by Lia Riva in the Riva Tunnel, Monte Carlo, supported by Maserati, Alitalia, the Fairmont Monte Carlo and Radio Monte Carlo.
The gala is expected to draw in over 200 guests to the famous tunnel on Thursday evening in support of the foundation, led by its president and Robert Kennedy’s daughter, Kerry Kennedy, to promote human rights. “This gala will do so much to advance the cause of freedom of expression and human rights in Europe and across the globe,” says Kerry Kennedy.
Working closely with Riva and Monaco Boat Service, Kerry Kennedy is bringing together art, gastronomy, celebrities and global figures to raise awareness and funds for the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Europe foundation. Guests are expected to enjoy a cocktail reception attended by H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco, before experiencing a gastronomic journey curated by Gualtiero Marchesi, the legendary Milanese chef who famously handed his three stars back to Michelin in 2008.
Kerry Kennedy will introduce a live auction, featuring lots such as artworks selected by well-known curators Melissa Proietti and Raffaella Caruso, works by famous Scottish photographer Harry Benson—who famously photographed Robert F. Kennedy—work by Italian painter, action and object artist, Michelangelo Pistoletto, and luxury travel escapes, among many others. The highlight is set to be the auctioning of the very first model of the new Fiat 500, launched on 4 July 2015, which has been customised with internal and external leather by artist Stefano Conticelli.
