New Zealand In Depth have recently opened Nightsky Cottage, a new luxury eco retreat designed to celebrate New Zealand’s wilderness and the stunning southern night sky.

Set in one hectare of lush private New Zealand native forest near Tongariro National Park, Nightsky Cottage, a new eco luxury lodge immersed in wilderness, can only be accessed via a 50-meter boardwalk – which leads to a beautiful property filled with skylights in the ceiling for endless nights of star gazing.

Founder of New Zealand In Depth, Paul Carberry, commented; “New Nightsky cottage gives guests a perfect combination of luxury, isolation, wilderness, and with a wide range of exciting activities on the doorstep will provide the perfect place for a family adventure. As the evening draws in our guests can sit back to admire some of the best views of New Zealand’s night sky.”

At 90 square meters and with two bedrooms each, including luxury King size beds, the lodge offers spacious but cosy living with each room making the most of views out to the native New Zealand wilderness beyond. There’s also everything an epicurean traveler could need – it comes kitted out with a fully equipped kitchen, lounge area, outdoor veranda with a barbecue, and a private picnic area in a native bush clearing. In the bathroom, two side by side freestanding baths along with bath salts and candles await guests to relax and unwind.

Committed to creating a sustainable experience for guests’ the new lodge has adopted a zero waste policy; it’s unlikely but you will find a single used plastic item in the cottage as any plastic used is fully recyclable or reusable. The cottage even collects and processes its own water.

Located on the edge of Tongariro National Park guests will have the opportunity to undertake a wide range of activities weather hiking, cycling, quad biking, river rafting or taking a spectacular scenic helicopter flight over the National Park. Dreamy.

Available throughout the year, a 5-night stay costs from £2,400 per person excluding international flights. This includes 3 nights at Nightsky Cottage and two at a quality B&B, transfers or car hire.
