Hosted in the stunning surroundings of Funchal Bay with the Atlantic Ocean as its backdrop, this year’s rendition is curated by José Diogo Costa, the Creative Executive Chef of Reid’s Palace and its Michelin-starred William Restaurant. The 2024 Art of Flavours festival not only promises exquisite dining but also a celebration of Portuguese culture and craftsmanship, featuring nearly 30 local producers and a special mixologist.
Joining José Diogo Costa will be a distinguished group of culinary superstars, including Luke Selby from Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Alex Tsiotinis from CTC Urban Gastronomy, Octávio Freitas from Restaurante Desarma, Valentino Cassanelli from Lux Lucis, and Vasco Coelho Santos from Euskalduna Studio. Four up-and-coming chefs, Isabel Nobre, João Guedes Ferreira, Marlene Vieira, and Pablo Aranda, will also showcase their innovative dishes.
The festival kicks off with “The Stars Dinner” on June 14th at William Restaurant, featuring a seven-course menu crafted by the guest chefs. The highlight of the dinner will be the dessert prepared by Isabel Nobre, accompanied by wines from António Maçanita, celebrating the Azores’ indigenous grape varieties.
The celebration continues on June 15th with a grand outdoor food party. Here, nearly 30 Portuguese winemakers and producers will present their products, complemented by live cooking demonstrations by the guest chefs. The evening will be enhanced with champagne, handmade desserts, and lively music by DJ Donwella, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
