FOUR checks into Pennyhill Park, one of England’s best hotels, for a countryside stay filled with charm and culinary enchantment.
There are certain hotels that possess the talent to conjure magic and Pennyhill Park, the luxury five-star stay tucked away in Surrey is one of them. It’s like Hogwarts, the hotel edition.

Hidden at the end of the end of an elongate drive awaits the many roofs and rooms of this elegantly vast country house pile. With 123 rooms to choose from, all of the luxury suites, junior suites and bedrooms come with individual flair.

No two are the same, boasting their own different names too. Plus a handy pillow menu, for that added indulgence. Rooms conjure classic charm in the form of large beds, cozy decor and beautiful wallpaper. Some also offer four-poster beds, gilded pillows and plush throws for extra decadence.

The bathrooms are so sleek that you might consider dragging the duvet to the bath. Heated floors, stylish fittings and Bamford toiletries – grab your robe and a bottle of bubbles (bath or boozy variety, whichever suits) and prepare to unwind.

Time To Unwind
One of the finest features of Pennyhill Park is that there’s so much waiting over the threshold. Ideal for an afternoon of pure indulgence, the spa is enormous. Filled with saunas, ice rooms, plunge pools and jacuzzis, there’s 45,000 sq. ft of pampering.

On a weekend, expect it to be teeming – but there’s space for everyone. If you want to beat the crowds, head down before breakfast to enjoy a more silent sanctuary.

With state-of-the-art facilities, it’s unsurprising that the England rugby team train here. Although, they probably work a tad harder the majority of visitors laying horizontal on the many poolside recliners. Should you get peckish, there’s also a handy Themis restaurant offering heathy, light bites.

Foodie Bliss
There’s a duo of restaurants to choose from, the Michelin-starred mouthfuls at The Latymer with seasonal enchantment or the more informal Brasserie.

If you’re visiting with a larger group or seeking a more relaxed meal, the latter with its buzzy and stylish interiors is perfect. Alternatively, if it’s the exquisite you’re after, book a table at The Latymer for Matt Worswick’s wizardry.

Dishes at The Brasserie include everything from Wild Mushroom Terrine andRed Mullet to Seared Tuna Loin and a chunky 10oz Ribeye Steak. Breakfast is also served here, in beautiful buffet fashion.

Meanwhile at The Latymer, diners can select from five or seven-course tasting menus. Saturday treats include Cornish LobsterScottish Venison and a simply titled Doughnuts made with Cox apple and douglas fir for a sumptuous bite.

Spend a weekend at Pennyhill Park and you’re bound to depart feeling both spa’d and suitably stuffed. With stunning decor, five-star service and ample dining opportunities, this hotel is perfect for those who enjoy the fabulous things in life.

Whilst checkout can be chaotic (leave earlier to avoid long queues) there’s undeniable charm here. Magical and just a little bit mesmerising – meet your favourite new country escape.
