Sun Resorts have announced the re-launch of Long Beach Mauritius, Sun Resorts’ five-star resort inspired by Mauritian, French and Créole culture, located on Mauritius’ breath-taking Belle Mare beach.

Long Beach Mauritius will be offering guests an extensive 6 month programme of experiential events, partnerships and initiatives in line with the resort’s new branding and energetic positioning highlighting the best in wellbeing, food, art and music, including: International resident DJs and DJ master classes, pop-up art exhibitions and art classes, live cooking demonstrations from internationally renowned chefs, a brand new wardrobe for all associates, a new wellness and fitness beach boot camp and the opening of the world’s first Cinq Mondes Spa and Wellness Retreat.

 

Wellness – World’s First Cinq Mondes Spa & Wellness Retreat:

The new Cinq Mondes Spa & Wellness Retreat is a sanctuary of serenity with lava rock walls surrounded by crystal clear waters. Set apart from the main areas of the hotel, the Spa preserves the absolute calm that reigns. The elegant decor, zen-like atmosphere, and expert practitioners will allow guests to indulge in treatments and massages that are recognised for their ceremonial appeal, refinement and time-honoured Mauritian traditions. In addition to facial treatments and relaxing massages that rebalance both body and mind, guests can discover a veritable art of living that embraces yoga, chi Gong and detox wellness, providing unique holidays with a holistic approach for deep and lasting inner calm. Fitness – Pop-up Beach Boot camp and Fitness Retreat:

Olivia Cooney, renowned UK celebrity fitness trainer, is the founder of Pop Up Fitness, a bespoke fitness company with retreats that are set in some of the world’s most elite venues in the most glamorous destinations. As part of the re-launch, Long Beach Mauritius will host Olivia’s next Pop Up Fitness retreat: 7 days of a healthy balance of vigorous exercises from sunrise to sunset with at least 3 fitness sessions daily which guests can choose from and deliciously prepared clean eating from the chefs at Long Beach Mauritius.

 

Cocktails – Mixology Classes with the Travelling Bartenders:

The ‘Travelling Bartenders’ – Anya Montague and Leo Boys – will be revamping the cocktail menus across all the restaurants – Sapori, Le Marché, Tides, Chopsticks and Hasu – as well as creating a new a new bespoke cocktail menu of at least 20 cocktails inspired by Long Beach Mauritius for Shore Bar. Alongside the cocktail menus, guests will have the opportunity to participate in master classes with the Travelling Bartenders where they will learn how to make a selection of these new signature drinks and bespoke cocktails.

 

Culinary – Internationally Renowned Culinary Pop-ups:

November 2017: Chef Bruno Doucet: Founder of “Bistronomie“ concept; La Regalade at Sapori

Chef Doucet is a native to the Touraine and at fifteen, he started as an apprentice at Charles Barrier in Tours. Two years later, he went to train with André Lenormand (MOF) in Orléans, joined Fouquet’s in Paris under Guy Kreuzer, then Prunier’s with Gabriel Biscaye, where he worked his way up from kitchen assistant to sous chef, before moving to Pierre Gagnaire for a year. In 1998, he became Jean-Pierre Vigato’s second at Apicius until 2001. Chef Doucet took over La Regalade from Yves Comdeborde, and became known for his concept of “Bistronomie” restaurant in 2004. He now owns and operates 3 branches in Paris.

 

December 2017: Chef Moreno Cedroni (Two Michelin Star); Hasu

In 1984, Cedroni opened ‘La Madonnina del Pescatore» restaurant and subsequently won his first Michelin Star in 1996 and a Second Michelin Star in November 2006. Cedroni brought a spirit of avant-garde to Italian cooking and is considered as one of the most innovative Italian chefs, a true “enfant terrible” of international cuisine; perfectly blending Italian and Japanese cuisines. Chef Moreno will host an exclusive tasting dinner in Long Beach Mauritius’ signature Restaurant Hasu.

 

January 2018: Chef Antoine Heerah (One Michelin Star); Tides Restaurant

Native of Mauritius, Antoine Heerah has maintained a cheeky “joie de vivre”. From his apprenticeships in Paris – including L’Arpège with three-starred chef Alain Passard – he has garnered a detailed knowledge of the best French products. By combining his Mauritius and French cultures, Heerah offers an inventive, unique and personal cuisine. He was awarded one Michelin star in 2003. He will lead the Tides kitchen next January for a couple of days for a creative culinary journey with a perfect blend of his influences.

 

Music – International Resident DJ & DJ Master classes:

November & December – Erica Rhone will be the Resident DJ at Long Beach Mauritius throughout November and December and is inspired by the ability to move people through sound and vibration. Erica will also be hosting DJ Master classes for both adults and children.

 

Art – Art Gallery & DJ Arrival Experience:

As guests arrive at Long Beach Mauritius, they will be welcomed by the local sounds of resident DJs and select artworks created by local contemporary Mauritian artists and curated by Third Dot. The new lobby and arrival experience will highlight Long Beach Mauritius’ strong connection with the local Mauritian art and music scene including local and regional artist in residence creating outdoor ateliers and workshops for guests. This collaboration will take place throughout the year across different areas.
