Davy Swanenberg had previously already won first prize in the Kitchen Design Contest UK & Europe. The prize is worth $40,000 and the jury, consisting of architects and interior designers, was unanimous in their choice of winner. According to the jury report, the proportions, use of materials and lines were absolutely world-class. In this competition, Swanenberg beat contenders from major countries such as Italy, USA, South America, New Zealand, Australia and Mexico. He said: “We are very pleased that, after having made improvements over many years and always looking for more beautiful details and materials, we have put together a team that can build world-class kitchens. This is the start of something really special and a terrific boost for us all. We are currently working on some very unusual new kitchen concepts with the Culimaat design team. Hopefully, we will be in the prizes again in two years’ time.”
