Nestled at the end of the beautiful Ötztal Valley in western Austria’s alpine state of Tyrol, Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl has a long and proud history as one of the region’s most premier hotels. After undergoing a recent renovation, the exquisite property is ready to once again welcome guests, offering refined accommodation and friendly service to the spellbinding backdrop of the snow-capped Alps.

Founded in 1889, Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl has been bringing warm hospitality, luxurious accommodations and top-class gastronomy to the Austrian Alps for over a century. Hosts Tanja and Lukas Scheiber together with the whole Edelweiss & Gurgl (E&G) team take pride in providing guests with an unforgettable holiday experience. From friendly and professional service from the moment of arrival to bright, spacious and modern rooms and suites overlooking the breath-taking Ötztal Valley, every aspect of the hotel aims to conjure up joy and comfort.

Now in its fourth generation of ownership by the Scheiber family, the team boasts over 130 years of experience and history running the high-end establishment that has served a wide array of international guests in its time. Paying attention to the smallest details, the hotel aims to provide guests with the most memorable stay in this gorgeous alpine region, whether its adrenaline-pumping adventures high in the Alps or relaxing evenings spent with close friends and family in the hotel.

Endeavoring to respect nature at every corner, Edelweiss & Gurgl takes steps to preserve the region’s stunning natural beauty and promote sustainable tourism. This respect is also channeled into their team members, who lie at the heart of the hotel’s offerings. Ensuring that they know how valued they are, the team members are able to give their best level of service every day. Not only are they encouraged to contribute to the development of the hotel, but they can too enjoy the beauty of the Ötztal Valley when staying at their purpose-built accommodation.

“As a hotel boss, I like having people with strong opinions who, in some cases, are better qualified than me in their respective areas. I want people with initiative and new ideas. Those are vital to enable a hotel like ours to grow.“ says E&G owner Lukas Scheiber.

Maintaining and improving on the outstanding quality and reputation that the hotel has built up over the decades is essential, as this allows Edelweiss & Gurgl to offer each and every guest a special holiday experience. From special quality-assurance measures within its walls to reading comments and paying close attention to rating platforms, the hotel uses all feedback possible to ensure it upholds its standards to the the highest degree. This even involves Lukas venturing to the ski resort in winter to personally check the quality of the pistes and the huts for his guests.

“These are important elements of the overall impression guests have of Obergurgl and the valley. That is why I often hit the slopes and take a look for myself to see if everything is up to the usual standard. If there are any shortcomings, I will have a chat with the person in charge to see if we can find a solution,” he says.

The hotel’s appearance is another facet that the E&G team has taken into consideration to ensure optimum enjoyment for guests. Thus, the property underwent a complete facelift this year to fuse new elements with its traditional values. With its finger firmly on the pulse of new developments and trends, the hotel’s new interior and exterior reflect its dynamic outlook where old and new are seamlessly combined to produce an authentic and unique experience for guests.

The sleek new natural wood façade reflects the natural hues of the surrounding landscape, drawing guests in to the treasures that await within. The rooms and suites overlooking the centre of the village have been completely redesigned and refurbished with new bathrooms, floors, furniture and facilities resulting in a more comfortable and spacious abode.

An entirely new series of suites have been added to the fifth and sixth floors boasting awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains. Featuring chic alpine styling and first-class facilities, the luxury suites are the perfect place to retire to after a day spent reveling in the most famed snowsure winter sports resort in the Alps.

Another fabulous spot to relax is at the newly-renovated Glacier Spa. With a new-look indoor and outdoor pool, as well as a brand new whirlpool and steam room, guests can take a moment to rest and rejuvenate in modern setting. A new fitness club connected to the spa area on the first floor has also been added, offering an abundance of space for yoga, pilates, stretching and strength training as well as cardio fitness training using the state-of-the-art machines. The reception and lobby also sport a fresh face, with more space for guests to check in, chat to staff or sit and enjoy a drink while waiting for friends.

Staying true to its eco-conscious mindset, the Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl obtains it heat from an environmentally friendly heating plant in Obergurgl and with its renovation, it has also installed new insulation throughout the building and improved the heat efficiency of the roof in order to further reduce energy consumption.

With this and so much more on offer, this deluxe hotel situated directly at the ski slope, with picturesque views of the Ötztal mountains and a convenient location in the town center is the ideal spot for a tranquil yet fun-filled holiday.
