A new luxury retreat is set to open north of the Arctic Circle in January 2027. Arcora Boutique Hotel & Villas will make its debut in Torassieppi, a lakeside village in Muonio surrounded by the fells, forests and frozen lakes of Finnish Lapland.
Located on the edge of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, Arcora has been designed to place guests close to the landscape and traditions of the region. Reindeer have roamed here for centuries, while the area’s remote setting offers long periods of winter darkness, wide skies and, when conditions allow, views of the northern lights.
The hotel will have 59 boutique suites and Sky and Deluxe Villas, together with a restaurant inspired by Lapland’s eight distinct seasons. The wider offering will include an artisan bakery, a Champagne bar, a spa with traditional saunas and a rooftop infinity pool, and a programme of guided Arctic experiences. A private helipad will allow guests to arrive directly at the retreat.
Arcora is part of Harriniva Hotels & Safaris, a third-generation family company that has operated in Finnish Lapland since 1973. The business began as a small camping ground on the banks of the Tornion-Muonionjoki, Europe’s longest free-flowing river, before developing into one of the region’s established travel groups.

The accommodation will be divided across four categories, each designed to maintain a strong connection with the landscape. Earth-toned materials, tactile fabrics and large windows will frame the changing Arctic light throughout the day and night.
The Executive Suite Jussi will feature its own sauna and scenic views, while the Sky Villa Antti will have a heated panoramic ceiling window, allowing guests to watch the northern lights from bed. The Deluxe Villa Jouni will include a private outdoor jacuzzi, a design fireplace and a kitchenette.
Food will play a central role in the hotel. Rather than dividing the year into the familiar four seasons, Lapland is traditionally understood through eight, each associated with changes in light, weather, colour and produce.
Restaurant 8 will interpret these seasonal shifts under the direction of Arto Rastas, one of Finland’s best-known chefs and restaurateurs. Rastas is also a Maison Lanson Chef Ambassador and has built an international following through his work in Finnish gastronomy.
The Lobby Bar & Bakery will serve freshly baked bread in the mornings before moving into Arctic Afternoon Tea and evening cocktails. The Pyry Champagne Bar, meanwhile, will offer a curated selection of Champagnes above the Arctic treeline.
Wellness at Arcora will draw on traditional Nordic practices and the restorative qualities of the surrounding environment. Set on the hotel’s top floor, the spa will look out across the fells and include a heated rooftop infinity pool, an outdoor jacuzzi, three saunas, relaxation spaces and a dedicated room for massages and treatments.
Beyond the hotel, guests will be able to explore the landscape through a programme of winter activities. Experiences will include reindeer safaris, husky excursions, snowshoeing and snowmobiling through Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park.
The opening comes as more travellers look for trips that offer a deeper sense of place alongside privacy and high levels of service. Arcora’s approach combines contemporary Nordic design with the knowledge Harriniva has developed over five decades of operating in Lapland.
