As it approaches a landmark 20th anniversary season, Tordrillo Mountain Lodge is setting a new standard for adventure-led luxury in Alaska. When the season opens on 20 February 2026, guests will be welcomed with two major additions that reflect both the evolution of heli-ski culture and the growing appetite for wellbeing-infused travel: a brand-new, state-of-the-art wellness center and the lodge’s first-ever women’s luxury heli-ski camp.
“For two decades, we’ve had the honour of sharing pure Alaskan adventure and unforgettable memories with our guests,” says co-owner Mike Overcast. “As we welcome new generations of heli-skiers, we are embracing what they value – intention, connection, and wellbeing – through offerings that elevate the Alaskan backcountry experience like never before.”
Located at Judd Lake and surrounded by more than one million acres of pristine terrain, Tordrillo Mountain Lodge has long been regarded as one of Alaska’s premier heli-ski destinations. With an average of 600 inches of snowfall each winter, it offers heli-skiing and boarding experiences that are both exhilarating and deeply immersive. Yet the lodge has always paired this high-octane adventure with the hallmarks of luxury hospitality: gourmet meals prepared to order by a private chef, personalised service, and beautifully appointed accommodations designed for rest as much as thrill.
A New Era of Adventure Meets Wellbeing
The lodge’s new wellness centre, opening in February 2026, underscores a shift towards more holistic, recovery-focused travel. Designed collaboratively by Skylab Architecture and the Tordrillo team, the 2,400-square-foot space invites guests to find equal joy in preparation and restoration as they do in big-mountain pursuits.
Two massage therapy rooms anchor the space, each dressed with luxe details such as shou sugi ban cedar walls – a centuries-old Japanese technique that chars the wood for enhanced durability and beauty. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer sweeping views of the private lake and the Tordrillo Range, creating a sense of continuity between the natural environment outside and the restorative atmosphere within.
Alongside its treatment rooms, the centre features a juice bar offering made-to-order smoothies, fresh juices and nourishing snacks; a yoga studio accommodating up to 15 guests; and a fully equipped gym stocked with premium cardio and strength-training equipment. The design aesthetic embraces understated sophistication, allowing the surrounding wilderness to take visual centre stage.
The wellness upgrade extends beyond the new building. The lodge’s existing wellness space has been expanded to include a completely rebuilt sauna, now able to host 12–15 guests – more than double its previous capacity. With a new stove, all-new surfaces and warm, clean design, the sauna enhances a ritual deeply ingrained in Tordrillo’s winter culture: the invigorating cold plunge in frozen Judd Lake, followed by a restorative sweat in the lakeside, wood-fired heat.
Introducing Couloirs & Cashmere – The First Women’s Luxury Heli-Ski Camp
In tandem with the wellness centre launch, Tordrillo Mountain Lodge will debut Couloirs & Cashmere, an all-new women’s luxury heli-ski camp running from 28 February to 7 March 2026. Designed for female heli-skiers of varying experience levels – from curious first-timers to seasoned experts – the week brings together deep-powder adventure, elevated comfort and a strong sense of community.
The programme will be led by three iconic figures in the mountain world: Jess McMillan, Jamie MacIntosh and Lel Tone. Their combined expertise and decades of backcountry experience promise an environment that is as empowering as it is exhilarating. Guests can expect a seamless blend of high-adrenaline heli-skiing, refined lodging, gourmet cuisine, fine wine, recovery sessions, and supportive, women-led guidance.
The camp reflects a broader movement within adventure travel: creating pathways for more women to access technical, remote or traditionally male-dominated environments, while ensuring the experience feels tailored, intentional and deeply enjoyable.
A Fully Immersive Alaskan Experience
Beyond skiing and the new wellness facilities, the lodge offers a host of winter activities designed to enrich the week-long stay. Guests can explore 20 kilometres of groomed Nordic trails, head out on snowshoes, or simply unwind lakeside with mountain-view après moments. Daily yoga, guided stretching and access to skilled massage therapists allow each guest to find their own rhythm between exertion and restoration.
Every winter package at Tordrillo Mountain Lodge spans seven days and seven nights and includes heli adventures, safety equipment, ski and snowboard demos, all chef-prepared meals, and access to the full range of lodge-based experiences. Guests are also provided with seamless transport: a night at Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage prior to their stay, transfers from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and a private round-trip flight directly to the lodge. Winter packages begin at $18,500 per person, reflecting the all-inclusive, precision-designed nature of the experience.
In addition, a new surf shop and retail space have been added to the expanded wellness building, providing access to high-performance gear from outdoor favourites such as Stio, YETI and Simms. The shop will also house equipment for summer watersports on Judd Lake, underscoring the lodge’s year-round adventure credentials.
Founded by Olympic gold medallist Tommy Moe, Mike Overcast and Mike Rheam, Tordrillo Mountain Lodge has spent the past 20 years shaping the landscape of luxury heli-ski travel. With its own helicopters, expert guides and commitment to exceptional cuisine and accommodation, it continues to offer experiences that balance adrenaline with indulgence – and now, with a deeper emphasis on wellbeing and women-centred adventure.
As the lodge enters its third decade, these new launches signal not only a celebration of its legacy, but also a confident stride into the future of luxury adventure travel.
