Torsten Vildgaard (born 1979) was skilled by Jan Friis Mikkelsen at restaurant Tinggården and went on to noma where he was sous chef and head of R&D from 2005-2012 before opening STUD!O in 2013. Only 5 months after opening, the restaurant received a Michelin star, which it still holds today.

In 2005 and 2014 Torsten was named ”Chef of the year” in Denmark. In 2007 he won Nordic Challenge and in 2015 he was named ”Chef of chefs” by his fellow chefs in Denmark.

What is your aim?

I want to keep getting better at what I do in all aspects and to improve STUD!O and take it to the next level.


What is your greatest inspiration?

My greatest inspiration is the nature. I love going out in the woods or by the water and see what I can find to add to a dish. I try to always test myself and basically every ingredient I come across.


What three things would you take to a deserted island?

My family, Krug and friends
