The new Mediterranean hospitality brand has opened its first hotel on the Greek island, bringing together Cycladic design, contemporary art, destination dining and an island-led approach to wellness.

Luura has opened the doors to its first hotel, choosing the Greek island of Paros for the debut of a new Mediterranean hospitality brand centred on culture, craftsmanship and a strong connection to place.

Opened on 1 August 2026, the adults-only property, welcoming guests aged 12 and over, sits on the seafront and comprises 39 spacious suites with generous outdoor areas. Nineteen have their own private pools. Elsewhere, the hotel includes a private chapel, two restaurants, an extensive wellness area and an event space designed for weddings and exclusive buyouts.

The Paros opening is the first step in a wider expansion for Luura, with further properties planned for the island, Athens and other Mediterranean destinations. Each hotel will take its cues from its setting rather than follow a fixed brand formula, with the Paros property drawing on the island’s cultural history, artistic heritage and contemporary character.

Luura has also joined Morgans Originals, Ennismore’s collection of independent hotels, marking the hospitality group’s entry into Greece.

A Cycladic Setting for Contemporary Art

Elastic Architects oversaw the architecture, while Lambs and Lions studio was responsible for the interiors. The design draws from the familiar simplicity of Cycladic architecture, with whitewashed buildings arranged across the site in a village-like formation.

Art plays an equally important role. The Khoury family’s longstanding involvement in the art world has shaped a collection intended to form part of the experience of staying at Luura, rather than simply decorate its interiors.

Working with an independent advisor, the hotel has developed a curatorial approach that brings international artists into conversation with Greek and regional names. The collection explores Paros through ideas of mythology, materiality and the island’s changing cultural identity, combining pieces from the Khoury family collection with works commissioned specifically for the hotel.

Artists represented include Francesco Clemente, Claire Tabouret, Judith Hopf, Chantal Joffe, Matthew Darbyshire and Tschabalala Self, alongside Sofia Mitsola, Kostas Paniaras and Vasilis Papageorgiou.

Among the works drawn from the family collection is Tschabalala Self’s Leda (2015), a large-scale reinterpretation of the Greek myth of Leda and Zeus.

Craft also extends into Luura’s retail space, which will feature collaborations with international and local brands as well as collectable objects and limited-edition ceramics. Artisans represented include Maria Economides, Onofrio Acone, Sacha Court, Zein Daouk, Leena Similu and Fernanda Pompermayer.

Two Distinct Dining Concepts

The hotel’s culinary offering includes Mimi Kakushi, the internationally recognised contemporary Japanese restaurant inspired by the energy of Osaka during the 1920s.

Known for combining Japanese traditions with Western influences, Mimi Kakushi is included in the Michelin Guide. Its bar currently sits at number 36 on The World’s 50 Best Bars and has been named Best Bar in the Middle East for three consecutive years. The restaurant is also ranked number 35 on MENA’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026.

Alongside it is Lenea, Luura’s contemporary Mediterranean dining concept. Seasonal ingredients and dishes made for sharing form the basis of the menu, accompanied by a selection of creative cocktails.

Rather than remaining identical from one hotel to the next, Lenea has been conceived as an evolving concept that will change with each Luura destination, incorporating the flavours, traditions and dining customs of its surroundings. At Paros, art and the social nature of eating together sit at its heart.

Wellness at an Island Pace

Luura’s approach to wellness takes its lead from the natural rhythms of Paros, with programmes intended to balance movement and rest, as well as time spent alone and with others.

Central to the concept is what the hotel calls stacking: combining different wellness, social and cultural experiences according to how each guest feels and what they want from their stay. These can be incorporated into a single afternoon or built gradually into a longer programme.

Facilities move between communal and private settings. A class-led wellbeing studio provides space for movement, while a sauna and cold plunge introduce contrast therapy. More individual treatments can also be taken into guests’ suites.

The treatment menu includes personalised massages, restorative facials and body treatments. Bespoke essential-oil blends, created with a specialist in Greek herbs, use native botanicals including bay, oregano, bergamot and chamomile.

Daily programming incorporates movement, breathwork and restorative practices intended to reconnect guests with natural and circadian rhythms. Locally influenced rituals, ingredient-led drinks and in-room amenities bring elements of the wellness programme into the wider stay.

Getting to Know Paros

Beyond the hotel, Luura has developed a programme of experiences that gives guests a closer look at the island’s landscape and creative traditions.

Local artisan Maria Economides hosts ceramics workshops at the property, where guests can make pieces of their own. Economides has also designed an exclusive collection for Luura, with bespoke ceramics used in guest rooms and selected vessels placed throughout the hotel’s communal areas.

Other activities range from private boat trips and fishing excursions to remote islets to diving, windsurfing and trail running across Paros.

A Family Approach to Hospitality

Luura was founded by Vivium, the family office of businessman, entrepreneur and art patron Elie Khouri. Its approach is deliberately multigenerational, bringing together the family’s interests in hospitality, art, design and culture.

The aim is for every property to have an identity drawn directly from its location, encouraging guests to experience both the hotel itself and the destination around it.

“We believe the future of luxury is about seamlessly belonging – arriving somewhere and feeling you can explore its most authentic core. Each property is built around the destination’s culture and identity. Nothing is templated,” says Sophie Khoury, Founder of Luura and Head of Hospitality at Vivium.

She adds: “At our properties, every detail carries weight, and guided by curiosity, we connect travellers to experiences both within our spaces and beyond them.”

Paros is only the beginning. A second Luura hotel is already planned for New Golden Beach on the island, with an opening scheduled for 2028. The brand will then move to the Greek capital with Luura Athens, set in the Koukaki district with views towards the Acropolis.
