This summer, Soho gets a jolt of culinary attitude as chef Scott Hallsworth brings his genre-defying pan-Asian concept, Freak Scene, to 100 Wardour Street. Running from July through November 2025, the exclusive pop-up marks the brand’s return to central London, landing in the ground-floor space of the iconic venue as part of a new partnership with Evolv Collection.
The move is a bold one—but fitting. Freak Scene is the only Asian restaurant offering within Evolv’s portfolio, and this latest iteration is steeped in the unapologetic energy that’s long defined Hallsworth’s cooking. A former Nobu Head Chef and the founder of Kurobuta, Hallsworth has built a cult following by fusing Japanese izakaya culture with irreverent Aussie swagger. At Freak Scene, it’s all about big flavours, loud beats, and a devil-may-care approach to fine dining.
The Soho residency features a curated selection of Freak Scene favourites—chili crab wonton bombs, miso-grilled hispi cabbage, and the now-legendary red curry duck donut buns—alongside new dishes created especially for the Soho crowd. Saturdays will see the return of Freak Scene’s signature brunch: a loud, playful mix of pan-Asian plates, graffiti-splashed bathrooms, hip-hop on blast, and the kind of laid-back atmosphere that makes brunch feel more like an afterparty.
“This is possibly the most exciting news I’ve been able to share since founding Freak Scene all those years ago,” said Hallsworth. “Not only are we heading back to our Soho roots, but we get to team up with the brilliant Evolv Collection at their iconic 100 Wardour Street. I can barely wait!”
For Evolv CEO Martin Williams, the partnership signals a new chapter for the group—one that leans into creativity, edge, and broader appeal. Since stepping into the role, Williams has spearheaded a series of dynamic projects, including Bluebird’s expansion to South Place Hotel, the launch of ‘Pont Plage’ on the Thames, and the creation of the Bluebird Club members concept.
“I’ve been a fan of Scott’s restaurants and food since his Kurobuta days,” Williams said. “His creativity, edge, and attention to flavour have always set him apart. We’re proud to be hosting Freak Scene at 100 Wardour Street as the only Asian concept in our group—it’s a partnership that makes fantastic sense and promises a great future.”
Freak Scene x 100 Wardour Street opens on 22nd July 2025 and runs until the end of November. Bookings can be made via freakscene.100wardourst.com.
