Residing between Baobab Collection’s headquarters in Belgium and a home in Paris, the creative designer Corinne Bensahel heads to Bahia, Brazil, for some R&R

I’d wake up in…

Trancoso, Brazil, a little village in the state of Bahia. It is for me the most rejuvenating in the world. It is the perfect mix between refined and roots lifestyle and a mix between the profane and the sacred. I find my inspirations there.

And stay at…

I’d stay at the UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa. This place was created by Wilbert, the creative director of Diesel. The pool is in quartz, the garden luxurious in the middle of the village. It is magnificent. It is just so well decorated there is nothing I don’t like about it.

Breakfast would be…

Fruits and [more] fruits: mango, papaya, pineapple. There is also a fantastic fruit from Bahia called the acai, which is very good for [one’s] health and perfect with a coffee before going running on the beach.

I would wear…

My Liwan caftan in marshmallows-coloured linen from this amazing Lebanese boutique located on rue Saint-Sulpice in Paris, with a Panama hat from Chapeau Michel on rue Cambon in Paris and Jack Rogers sandals that I’ve worn for 25 years. I have them in every colours and buy them in NYC at Barneys or Calypso St Barth in Soho, Manhattan.

And take these travel essentials…

My perfume, it is exclusive, like a second skin. This perfume is made of one of my candle’s perfume and I have it only for me, [although] I give some to my best girlfriends. My two rings, Gaia and Augustine, are part of my life. [They’re] from the precious jewellery brand Bliss Rose, the designer is my best friend and they are like talismans. My iPad; Moleskin notebook; a cashmere scarf fromBrunello Cucinelli and a travel candle—I always travel with a candle. I need to light a candle at night in my room.

I’d listen to…

Music from the eighties, isco, U2, Pharrell Williams, Daft Punk… Édith Piaf, Verdi’s requiem, Melody Gardot. I am very eclectic.

And visit…

I will enjoy the sea; I will hang out with some friends and rest on the beach probably reading a novel of Marguerite Duras or a young philosopher.

Have lunch at…

Hotel Fazenda Cala y Divino on the beach of Espelho.

Shop at…

Some amazing soaps and body cream from GRANADO, bathing suits from Lenny’s and dresses from Osklen.

Hang out with…

My daughter Chloé. She is an amazing artist and lives in California, and my best friend Alexandra.

Relax at…

I will relax inside the 16th century church on the Quadrado. It is the most beautiful place at the centre of the village. Lot of simplicity and the perfect place for meditation.

And wind down the evening having dinner at…

I will have dinner at Restaurante Los Negros Jacaré Do Brasilin the centre of the village, the Argentine chef Francis Mallmann is amazing.

Nightcap…

After dinner I will go to the Monkey Bar and drink a Mojito and maybe dance to a backdrop of soft Brazilian music.
