The Spanish cheese comes from Dehesa de los Llanos in the province of Albacete and is the first Spanish cheese to walk away with the title in 20 years. The Manchego was described by the judging panel as “a stunning cheese – light, with high notes like a choral song and an aromatic, long finish”.
The traditional unpasteurised ewes’ milk cheese was just one of 2,781 being judged on the day and 255 judges were on hand to sample the range of great products. Cheeses were on show from all over the world including New Zealand, Slovakia, USA, Italy, France, Netherlands and many more.
