It’s been one hell of an autumn for The Michelin Guide team who released The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland at the end of September; NYC, San Francisco Bay and Kansai in October; and Germany, Italy and now Chicago this November…
With Chicago’s latest list finally being unveiled, news is that the city has 25 Michelin-starred restaurants, 6 up from last year’s figure of 19, with 31 Michelin stars in total.
Grant Achatz’s Alinea stole the limelight, maintaining its name as the city’s only three-star restaurant, while his restaurant Next, with some alarm, failed to make the list.
In the two star band, Grace restaurant by chef Curtis Duffy made its first appearance in the guide obtaining two stars – a rare occurrence – while restaurant Sixteen rose from one star to two. Graham Elliot and L20 both maintained their two-star ranking.
The guide welcomed five newcomers in the one-star category: EL Ideas, Elizabeth, The Lobby, North Pondand the gluten-free restaurant Senza.
