Take a look at the very first Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurant list 2013…

The inaugural Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards took place last night in Lima, Peru with a cross section of world-class restaurants being named as the best places to dine in Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Mexico and more.

Peru

Peru dominated the top 10 with Gaston Acurio’sAstrid y Gastónclaiming the covetednumber one spot,Virgilio Martinez’s Central at no. 4 and Malabar at no.7. The country has a total of seven restaurants on Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list sponsored by Cusqueña including Lima’s Maido (no.11), Rafael (no.13), Fiesta (no.14) and Acurio’s La Mar (no.15)

Brazil

Brazil, another regional and international leader, boasts nine restaurants on the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list with São Paulo’s D.O.M at no.2. Helena Rizzo, executive chef of fellow São Paulo restaurant Mani, rankedat no.5, took home theVeuve Clicquot Latin America’s Best Female Chef Award.Another victory for Brazil was Restaurant Remanso do Bosque in Belém receiving The Latin America’sOne to Watch Award,sponsored by BBVA.

Mexico

Mexico also has plenty to celebrate with 10 restaurants on the list. Enrique Olvera’s Pujol is in at no.3, with Olvera also scooping the individualChefs’ Choice Award, sponsored by Telefonica.

Argentina

Argentina has secured its position on the gastronomic map with 14 restaurants on the list. Restaurant Tegui has been noted as theBest Restaurant in Argentina at no.9,sponsored by Argentina Gourmet.

Colombia

With four restaurants on the list, Colombia stakes its claim in the continent’s culinary landscape. Taking the no.19 spot, Criterión is crowned theBest Restaurant in Colombia,sponsored by Zacapa.

Uruguay

Uruguay’s Parador La Huella was namedThe Best Restaurant in Uruguay,sponsored by Les Concierges.

Venezuala

Restaurant Alto in Caracas was awarded withThe Best Restaurant in Venezuela, alsosponsored by Les Concierges.

Chile

TheBest Restaurant in Chile,sponsored byFundación Imagen de Chile, goes toRodolfo Guzmán’sBoragó at no.8.
