During the episode, the contestants travelled to Salamanca where they were asked to cook a spread of 11 seafood dishes, with a few unconventional ingredients thrown into the mix, to challenge the competitors. Fortunately for them, Joan Roca was there to offer his culinary expertise and give them tips on how to cook each of the surprise ingredients.

Their new title comes as surprising news, as previous No.1, Rene Redzepi’s Noma in Denmark, was at the top of the list for three consecutive years.

Back in 2011, the chef appeared on the show’s British version and taught contestants how to make some of his signature dishes.

Most recently, he joined his brothers Josep and Jordi in creating anEdible Opera, which enjoyed its first showing earlier this month in Barcelona.
