Prestigious champagnes, award-winning vines and spectacular eco-friendly surroundings – this upcoming gourmand weekend is a must-book.

This summer, gourmands are invited to join one of Australia’s most sustainable hotels for a delicious Sparkling Saffire Weekend.

Taking place at Saffire Freycinet from 19-21 July 2019 and hosted by International Wine Communicator of the Year Tyson Stelzer, this delectable event will showcase the distinguished champagne house of Pol Roger including the highly anticipated Pol Roger Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill 2008 alongside the finest Tasmanian wines.

Join the hotel for Saffire’s signature degustation dining experiences, cocktail and gala dinners, as well as lunch on the terrace and a vintage champagne and Tasmanian sparkling masterclass hosted by Tyson.

This exciting weekend will offer gourmands the chance to meet local winemakers, learn how to blend their own sparkling wine in a brand new interactive blending experience and explore the spectacular landscape of the Hazards of Freycinet.

A stunning example of sustainable stays, the original Saffire Freycinet site was once a  caravan park and backpackers’ accommodation, and so had suffered a great deal of degradation and erosion. The newly rebuilt luxury property occupies a small portion of what had been cleared and eroded, and so a great deal of time has been spent revegetating the site with 30,000 native plants to encourage a return to its natural form.

The landscape design draws from the concept of a coastal sanctuary, reflecting what it might have looked like prior to Western civilisation and restoring the natural ecosystems where possible.

Ongoing environmentally sustainable practices include limiting further impacts on the landscape through activity, highly energy efficient hot water usage and lighting and natural cycle air flow systems. With a design that takes its inspiration from the colours of the peninsula – the pink granite of the Hazards mountains, the white beaches, sapphire waters and the grey-green of the native bushland, Saffire Freycinet aims to connect to to the surrounding environment, seamlessly joining the outside with inside to create a relaxing and rejuvenating retreat.

Rates start from $5,600, based on two people sharing for two nights. To make a booking, please phone 03 6256 7888 or email host@saffire-freycinet.com.au.
